Lady Mocs Finish 16th at Wildcat Invitational

PUERTO PENASCO, Mexico---Freshman Maria Juliana Loza shot an even par 72, but it was not enough to move the Chattanooga women's golf team up the scoreboard as the Lady Mocs finished 16th at the Wildcat Invitational played at the Peninsula Golf Club. No. 40 UTC shot a final round 320 to end the 54-hole event with a total of 958.
Loza bounced back from an opening round 86 to post scores of 78 and 72 to lead the Lady Mocs finishing tied for 63rd, 236. The 72 is her third par round of her young career.
Fellow freshman Maria Salinas finished three shots behind Loza at 239 for 70th place shooting a second consecutive 81. Sophomores Emma de Groot (83) and Christine Wolf (84) ended up tied for 76th finishing at 244. New arrival Moa Duf finished tied for 80th in her first collegiate event shooting 249 following a final round 85.
Third-ranked UCLA claimed a wire-to-wire win shooting a one-under par 287 in its final round which was the low round of the day. The Bruins shot a 54-hole total of five-over par 869 to top No. 1 Arizona State and No. 2 USC by nine shots at 878.
