AUSTIN, Texas---It was not the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team's day in Texas as it finished 14th at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin. The final round 315 gave UTC a 54-hole total of 930.
The Lady Mocs finished one shot out of a tie for 12th with
Sophomore Emma de Groot led the Lady Mocs finishing tied for 41st as a final round 77 (+5) totaled her at 232 (+16). Fellow classmate Christine Wolf matched her 77 ending up tied for 50th at 234 (+18).
Freshman Maria Salinas had a seven-over par 79 on Sunday to finish tied for 47th at 233, a stroke in between de Groot and Wolf. Maria Juliana Loza and Moa Duf each shot 82 on the day. Loza tied for 56th at 235, while Duf came in tied for 62nd (238).
For the week, the Lady Mocs had been stronger on holes 1-9, while struggling on 10-18. Through the first 36 holes,
Shotgun starting on holes 10-12, a good start would be a good harbinger for the day. The Lady Mocs had their best 10-18 for the three rounds at plus 12, but shot 15 over on 1-9 to fall into 14th.
No. 14 Purdue was tied with No. 2 Arizona State to start the day, but the Boilermakers were able to claim a six-shot victory over the Sun Devils with a final round 294 to end up at 872. ASU shot an even 300 (+12) to finish at 878, while No. 19 Arkansas came in third eight shots back at 880.
