Team

- Chattanooga is now 16-16 on the season after a 79-78 nail-biter in the McKenzie Arena Saturday night... Elon moves to 11-20 overall...UTC advances to the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament to face the winner of Citadel-Samford Sunday night at 8:30 p.m.

 

- Chattanooga is now 7-6 against the Phoenix, 5-2 in Chattanooga... The Mocs are now 1-1 against Elon on SoCon Tourney play.

 

- For the second year in a row the Mocs faced Elon in the quarterfinals of the tournament.  Last year's result was a 60-57 loss.

 

- UTC is now 49-22 in Southern Conference tournament games, 22-10 in the quarterfinals.

 

-  The win moves Chattanooga into its 22nd semifinals appearance in 32 SoCon Tourneys.

- UTC's last FG in the game was a 3-pt. play by senior Khalil Hartwell at the 4:00 mark...Chattanooga led by 15 65-50 with 10:34 left in the game...Elon closed with a 28-14 run and actually led 78-77 before a pair of FTs by senior Kevin Goffeny gave the Mocs the lead with just over a minute to play.

Individual                                                                                                        

Senior Stephen McDowell

- 17 points on 6-12 shooting, 5-8 from 3-pt. range

- 27 double-digit scoring games this season, 51 career.

- 25 games this season with three or more three-pointers.

- 11 games with five or more three-pointers.

- 1,026 career points leaves him 19 points shy of Casey Long (2004-07) for 15th place on the scoring chart.  He is third among two year players behind, Johnny Taylor (1,070 - 1996-97) and Keith Nelson (1,047 - 1991-92).

- Mocs career leader in 3-pt. FGM with 233 and 3-pt. FGA with 586.  UTC leader with 125 3-pt FGM this season.  One short of the 3-pt FGA record of 293 which he set last season.

- Currently third in season points with 584.  Should he reach 600 points, he would be just the third player in school history to accomplish the feat in the modern era.

 

Senior Nicchaeus Doaks

- 17 points on 7-8 shooting, 3-3 from 3-pt. range and 0-1 from the FT line...also added nine boards...hit the 800-rebound mark for his career.

- 3 3-pt. FGs is a season-high

- Leads UTC in rebounds and blocked shots this season.

- His 800 rebounds is the UTC DI career record as is his 556 FT attempts and 128 games played.

- Now has 1,386 points, 63 behind Gerald Wilkins (1983-85) and Brandon Born (1992-95) in second place with 1,449.

- Second all-time in free throws made (359) to Stanford Strickland (401).

 

Senior Kevin Goffney

- Team-high 18 points on 6-11 shooting and 6-7 from the FT line...also had seven boards.

- Tied a career-high with five assists

- In last 16 games, Goffney is averaging 15.3 points (245), 7.5 rebounds (120) and 1.5 steals (24) per game.

- 17 double-figure scoring games this season, 24 for his two-year career.

 

 

Senior Keyron Sheard

- Scored 12 points on 4-9 shooting, 4-8 from 3-pt. range

- Also grabbed six rebounds and seven assists

- 4 3-pt. FGs ties a career-high

- Five or more assists 10 times this season.

- 30 of his 52 steals in last 14 games (2.1 spg).
