CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team fell 2-0 to The Citadel Friday afternoon at the Washington Light Infantry Field in Charleston, S.C.
The Lady Mocs fall to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference action while the Bulldogs add to their best-ever school record at 7-3-1 and remain undefeated in league play at 3-0-0.
The Citadel got two second half unassisted goals for its third conference win of the year. Just after the start of the second half the Bulldogs' Ruth Leiva scored her fourth goal of the season at the 48:59 mark to put The Citadel on the board first for what would prove to be the game winner. In the 56th minute Nicole Levermann scored an insurance goal, her third of the year, for the 2-0 lead.
Sophomore Lauren Wilson (Columbia, Tenn.) had four shots for the Lady Mocs with one on goal while junior Donna-Kay Henry (Queens Village, N.Y.) had three shots with two on goal. Chattanooga got two shots each from sophomore Becca Smith (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Kelly Downs (Hixson, Tenn.) and Kelsey Swann (Hixson, Tenn.) but none made it through. Chattanooga keeper freshman Taylor Mangrum (Franklin, Tenn.) grabbed 10 saves for her second game with double-digit stops.
The Lady Mocs will remain in Charleston to take on the College of Charleston (5-5-0, 2-0-0) Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Patriot's Point in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
