Mocs in Second after First Round of Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team is in second place after 18 holes at the Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman Golf Club. Chattanooga's 305 is three behind Georgia State which shot 302 in its opening round.
Senior Christine Wolf (Igls, Austria) led the way with a season-high 16 pars in shooting two-over par 74. Wolf is one of two Mocs in the top 10 as she is tied for fourth, one shot behind a trio of leaders.
Defending medalist Sandra Changkija of Nova Southeastern is tied with the Georgia State duo of Jenny Haggblom and Charlotte Lorentzen at 73 (+1). Sian Evans (ETSU) and Anna Helm (Samford) are tied with Wolf at plus two.
Senior Emma de Groot (Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia) is one shot behind her teammate at two over 74. She is tied for seventh with three other golfers.
Junior Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and freshman Jordan Britt (Dayton, Tenn.) each shot 78 (+6) and are in the top 25, tied for 23rd overall. Freshman Yushira Budhram (Johannesburg, South Africa) had the drop score with an 85.
Georgia State and Chattanooga are followed by the top ranked team in NCAA Division II and the event's defending champ in Nova Southeastern which shot 307. Samford is in fourth (308) followed by Furman and Longwood which are tied for fifth at 310.
The Mocs are slated to tee off at 11:30 a.m., Saturday morning. Budhram leads followed by Britt (11:39), Loza (11:48), de Groot (11:57) and Wolf (12:06). UTC is paired with GSU and Nova Southeastern. Live scoring can be accessed on the women's golf schedule page at GoMocs.com.
