Head Coach Lisa Rhodes
On Tess Kosycarz stepping in a setter:
"Tess did a great job and out set their setter with 55 assists. I felt like our offense did not miss a beat with her. If our middles would have played just a little better, then I think the outcome would have been different."
On Paula Passmore keeping rallies alive:
"She had a great defensive game and that is what we expect from her. She stepped up her defensive game and kudos to Elon because they came up with the big plays when they needed to."
Sophomore Right Side Christina Teter
On the match:
"I think that we played phenomenal especially when our primary setter went down. Our backup played really well and we are happy. Everything was the same pace as it Bailee [Chastain] would have been in there. It was a tought five-set match, but we have to come back tomorrow and play hard to get a win."
On the right side contributing:
"It really opens up a lot for the offense. We had a lot of times when they stuck with me on the outside. It is easy for us because we are creating a lot more openings, since the other team is guessing."
On the blocking presence:
"One of the things that I love to do is block and it is great to have another tall person on the outside to go with our middles."
Sophomore Outside Heather Parman
On the match:
"I feel like we fought hard. Before the game, we were all pumped about playing Elon and wanting to beat them. It was kind of an embarrassing match for us last time [at Elon]. They just ended up picking a lot of balls and block a lot of our good swings."
On you defensive contributions:
"After the game in the locker room, coach J.O. said, 'If you know a part of your game is lacking, then try to pickup another one.' So, I knew that my serve-receive passing was lacking, so I just really strived to do better in the digging aspect."
On battling back in the fourth set to send it to a decisive fifth:
"It is always great to battle back and especially with having everyone's energy pumps everyone else up. Going in to that final set, I felt like we were all confident, but they picked up a lot of our balls off of good hits."
On playing UNCG:
"We just have to come out against UNCG because that is a really crucial match for us. It is always tough for us to lose in five sets, but we are still feeling confident going into tomorrow's match against UNCG."
Sophomore libero Paula Passmore
On the match overall:
"It was a huge game for us. It was tough for us losing in five sets. We did struggle in our serve-receive, but luckily we actually picked it up. Everyone knew that they had to do their job and step up with Bailee [Chastain] out. We all believe in Tess and she did a great job, but it just meant that everybody had to do their part and more every point.
"Blocking, we king of struggled a little bit, but our defense was really strong, had a lot of digs and picked up as much as we could."
On getting that big dig that could change momentum:
"It is the best feeling especially getting a big dig or save and know that your teammates get it over and scoring the point. Being a libero is the best thing because you start the play and do all that you can do. It was just great to see them finish. I wanted to make it as easy as possible to get Tess [Kosycarz] and the hitters as much as they could."
On the importance of the matches this weekend:
"This weekend, I feel like both matches we are out for revenge because we were not playing well when we lost to them earlier this year. Even though, we lost and it does not feel good at all, but we definitely proved ourselves and showed them what we bring to a match."
Freshman setter Tess Kosycarz
On stepping in and running the offense:
"It is hard being a freshman because I play with them in practice, but there is added pressure and more on the line. It would have been difficult if it wasn't for everyone encouraging me. My hitters were like really talking to me and telling me what they needed."
On the outsides' playing with more confidence:
"It is really nice having that outlet with them because their confidence is so high that they want the ball. Our middles are right sides are always pulling blockers and it becomes a one-on-one on the outside."
