MACON, Ga. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is tied for sixth through 18 holes at the Brickyard Collegiate Championship. Chattanooga's opening round 292 (+4) ties it with UT Arlington, one stroke behind Clemson and Georgia Tech tied for fourth.
Georgia leads the event at one-under par 287, five shots clear of the Mocs. North Florida is in second at 288 (E), with Augusta State in third at 289 (+1).
UTC got off to a good start playing the back nine first. Three of the five Mocs birdied the par five 12th, as the team stood at two under through three holes. After making the turn at level par, Chattanooga played holes 1-9 at plus four to end up at 292.
Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) paces the Mocs with an even-par total of 72. It's the third straight tourney the redshirt freshman has opened with the team's low score. He's tied for 13th overall.
Stephan Jaeger (Munich, Germany) and Davis Bunn (Knoxville, Tenn.) are tied for 23rd at 73 (+1). Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.) rounds out the counting scores at 74 (+2), while Benni Weilguni (Langelois, Austria) had the drop score with a 77 (+5).
A trio of golfers is tied for the individual lead at minus four, 68. Hudson Swafford (Georgia), Carter Newman (Augusta State) and Kyle Scott (Georgia Tech) are one shot ahead of a quartet in fourth at 69 (-3).
Chattanooga tees off No. 1 Saturday morning at 9:20 a.m. The Mocs are playing with Clemson and Georgia Tech. Weilguni leads off followed by Fox (9:30), Bunn (9:40), Jaeger (9:50) and Robb (10:00).
