Chattanooga Mocs Basketball - Postgame Quotes
Reinhardt at Chattanooga
McKenzie Arena - Chattanooga, Tenn.
Dec. 21, 2010

Head Coach John Shulman
Opening Statement:
"Great way to end our pre-holiday schedule.  Last year we were sloppy against Tennessee Temple, didn't play very well.  But today I thought we were pretty sharp after the first seven or eight minutes.  Shot the ball and was unselfish and rebounded it...a good way to end. "

Did it go as expected:
"You don't know what to expect in these games.  (Kevin) Nordeen made eight threes last game vs. Atlanta Christian.  If that ball goes in the basket, you don't know what will happen.  I liked our alertness, I like the way we respected the game."

Did you expect to have this much success shooting the ball (52.6% FG,41.2% FT):
"We haven't been in here (McKenzie Arena) since last week because of graduation.  Maybe we'll just stay in the practice facility (smiling).  We had two really good days of practice and I was worried about our legs, but we shot the ball really well.  More than that, we held them to 25% field goal percentage and won the rebounding battle by 34."

Sounds like you got what you wanted out of this game:
"Ain't no doubt.  I liked our attention to detail.  We leave in a great frame of mind."

Junior Keegan Bell
Thoughts on the game:
"In basketball it's hard, anyone can beat you any night.  They are a talented offensive team.  They went to Murray State and only lost by 14 and Murray State is a great team."

How do you not overlook an opponent:
"We came in here really focused today.  You just gotta know as a basketball player that there are good players everywhere.  It can be tough at times when you are looking forward to going home, but we were really focused and ready to play.

About heading into the break winning four of five:
"You just never get satisfied.  We can't think that we've arrived because we absolutely haven't.  We need to keep working every day to get better."

Senior DeAntre Jefferson
Thoughts on the game:
"I think it was a whole team contribution.  Defensively, we did what we wanted to do.  In their last eight games they scored more than 70 points so when we held them under 50, that's real good.  This is more of a defensive game for us and we are going into Christmas break with a good defensive mindset."

How do you approach a game like this:
"It was being mature, coming in with the right mindset.  That's what good teams do."

Junior Chris Early
Thoughts on the game and team heading into the break:
"I feel like we have something to build on.  We used our size to our advantage.  We worked hard in the paint.  We did what we had to do to get the 'W' going into the break.  We have a long ways to go.  The ceiling is high for us and we've only kind of scratched the surface of our potential."

Junior Ricky Taylor
Thoughts on the game:
"We had great practice coming into the game and coach (Shulman) lets us play freely and Keegan (Bell) has been getting me the ball and Omar (Wattad)...we've been playing team ball lately.  Coach believes in us and everyone is buying into what we do.  We communicated well on defense and that transformed into easy baskets offensively."
