"We always seem to have a close match with Appalachian State. Every time we play it seems like all the matches are close and it comes down to just a few little things. It was good to get the doubles point and we had some solid points in singles play early on. Anytime you can win the first two singles matches it's big. Momentum was always on our side, but give App. State credit."
On Grace Robinette's play:
"I'm so proud of Grace. She's overcome a lot of serious injuries and I really want her to do well. There was a lot of back and forth in her match. She won the first set tie break then the other girl won the second set. In the end she was just two points better."
On winning the first and third singles:
"The strength of our team is the upper half of our singles. We hope to get those points and anytime you win No. 1 it's a good thing. It is tough to win No. 1 in this conference. It's also good for Emily [Hangstefer] to get back on the winning track. She worked really hard over spring break and it paid off for her."
On the importance of this match:
"It was a big match for us, but we can't celebrate too much because we have to come back and play tomorrow. UT-Martin is an out of conference match, but they are a tough team."
On ending the four-game losing streak:
"I'm very pleased. Anytime you win a conference match it's big. It was a four-and-a-half or five our match and it's nice to be on the right side of those. Anytime a match goes that long there are going to be a lot of three-set matches and it's going to be close. The difference between winning and losing is very slim."
Junior Grace Robinette
On the effects of a long match:
"We're prepared for long matches and we feel like we have the advantage when it comes down to a third set. Coach Anderson has done a great job with our conditioning."
On the difference in her match:
"It comes down to a good work ethic. You have to be smart. I figured out that she's going to hit winners if you just hit it to her. You have to be smart and hit good shots."
On the team ending its four-match losing streak:
"It was huge, we really needed that win and hopefully we can get another one tomorrow. Especially for it to come against a conference opponent, it was really important."
On her match being the difference in the team scores:
"You've got to focus the entire time. Number six was still on the court when we were finishing and I could tell it was a tough match. It was huge and it felt great to get the win."
