Mocs Tied for 17th at Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team is tied for 17th with Notre Dame after 18 holes at the Tar Heel Invitational on UNC Finley Golf Course. UTC shot 307 and is just three strokes behind Coastal Carolina in 16th.
Freshman Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) was the story Friday for the Mocs. She carded a season-best 73 (+1) with four birdies playing her final seven holes at one-under par. She is tied for 26th with 36 holes to play.
After Kryger, the other four Chattanooga student-athletes shot in numerical order. Freshman Michaela Gasplmayr (Ebenfurth, Austria) turned in a 77 (+5), while sophomore Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) came in with a 78. Sophomore Yushira Budhram (Johannesburg, South Africa) shot 79, while sophomore Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) had the drop score with an 80.
Alabama has the early lead at seven under, 281. LSU and Wake Forest are tied for second at 284 (-4), while Auburn is fourth (287).
Cheyenne Woods (Wake Forest), Katie Burnett (South Carolina) and Madelene Sagstrom (LSU) are tied for first at four-under par 68. They lead five golfers tied for fourth at three under (69).
The Mocs tee off at 9 a.m., Saturday morning playing with Notre Dame and Coastal Carolina. Duvernay leads off No. 10 followed by Budhram (9:09), Britt (9:18), Gasplmayr (9:27) and Kryger (9:36). Live scoring can be accessed at the link above or on the women's golf schedule page on GoMocs.com.
