No. 23 Chattanooga at No. 1 Georgia Southern
Paulson Stadium (18,000) - Statesboro, Ga.
Saturday - Oct. 8, 2011

Chattanooga Head Coach Russ Huesman
On the play of freshman quarterback Terrell Robinson

"He was unbelievable. They gave him a round of applause in the locker room. He made plays and stayed composed, but I also told him he had a lot of help."

"I wanted to win the game. I wanted to win there game right there because we had momentum. That's on me. I lost this game for our football team. Those guys played hard enough to win this game so this loss is mine. Not the offense, defense or special teams; it's on me."

LB - Gunner Miller - JR
On the close loss

"It's very frustrating to come up like this the past three weeks. With one point this week and one point last week, we have to find a way to make some plays. We didn't tackle well the first half, but I thought we played good the second half."

Thoughts on quarterback Terrell Robinson
"Terrell came in fresh and kind of gave us a different look. He fired us up a little bit and helped us play better in the second half. The offense got rolling, got a lot of points and fought really hard. We just came up a little short."

Thought's on the team going into next week
"We know how good of a team we are, and the record doesn't show it, but we like to say we came up four points short in a combined total of three games. It is heartbreaking and frustrating, but Tuesday we're going to get back to work and focus on the playoffs next week."

RB - J.J. Jackson - JR
On making a comeback in the second half

"Like Coach told us at half time when BJ went down, we could either stop fighting or keep fighting. We decided to keep fighting and take what the defense gives us."

Thoughts on Chattanooga's running game
"I think we can successfully run the ball on anybody in the Southern Conference, but I think it was partly because they didn't know it was coming. It probably wasn't part of their game plan this week and we took advantage of it."

Thoughts on freshman quarterback Terrell Robinson
"Terrell was very impressive and we're all proud of that kid. He kept fighting and he didn't bow down to anybody."

On going into practice next week
"You can't dwell on our past losses. We took some tough losses, but I honestly believe we are one of the best teams in the SoCon. We've just taken some tough losses. We've got to come back and take it week-by-week and day-by-day. We have to keep fighting."

QB - Terrell Robinson - FR
"I had a package going into the game, but BJ got hurt and that was it. The first time I got in I fumbled the snap, so I had to calm down, get the snaps and run the offense."

"I don't think Georgia Southern prepared for what I did compared to what BJ has been able to do all season. The line executed, wide receivers executed and opened up holes for me."

Georgia Southern Head Coach Jeff Monken
"
We're all thrilled to get a win, that's why they keep score. It wasn't pretty, but we got the win today. We'll see a lot of things on film that will have us pulling our hair out. The things that are the most disappointing are the missed tackles, missed assignments, and missed opportunities to prolong drives. With that said, our guys found a way to win and that is the important thing. We're certainly not going to be disappointed with a win. You always feel like you could have played better and, gosh what could have been, but I credit our guys with their effort in the fourth quarter and especially on that 2-point conversion. Chattanooga has got a good football team and we knew they would be coming into today. They are a well-coached group that ran the football well in the second half. We knew it was going to be a dogfight, and I am so grateful that we were able to find a way to pull it out."

Were you surprised they went for two?
"Not at all, they were playing to win. During that drive I turned to Brent Davis and said, "If they score a touchdown, they're going to go for two and we might have to go down the field and kick a field goal to win the game." I'm surprised they sent the field goal team out there, but not surprised when they called timeout. I fully assumed they would go for two."

Coach, talk about that two-point conversion
"We got a great jump on that play and Josh Rowe got there first and thankfully we were able to get some pressure on them and he wasn't able to find anyone."

Defensively you plan for one QB, how did you adjust to the other QB?
"They ran the ball effectively and it had more to do with us missing tackles and missing assignments. I don't know how many times we missed contain; whether it was a defensive end or an inside guy on a twist, or a linebacker or a secondary guy on a blitz, but that is a missed assignment. He would get a block and get outside, which is disappointing to give up yards like that. I tell ya what; they did a great job running the ball. Coming into the week, they didn't get any credit for being able to run the ball, but we knew they could. They committed to it in the second half and, gosh, they ran it right down our throats."
