TEAM
- Chattanooga improves to 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the SoCon with a 24-9 win at Samford...the Bulldogs drop to 5-4 overall and 3-4 in the SoCon.
- Mocs have not allowed a point in the first quarter for seven straight games.
- Chattanooga has not allowed a TD in the first half in the last four games and six of the last seven games.
- This is the fifth game this season the Mocs have held their opponent to 14 points or less...it is the first time UTC has accomplished that feat since 1998.
- Nick Pollard ended a 17-play, 68-yard scoring drive that took 7:19 in the second quarter in a 29-yard FG to go up 10-3.
- Longest drive of the year in terms of plays and time of possession.
- Ties for the longest drive in the Huesman era in terms of plays.
- The Mocs used a three-headed attack at quarterback with freshman Terrell Robinson, sophomore Graham Nichols and senior Sloan Allison...starting QB senior B.J. Coleman has been out since the Georgia Southern game and backup Terrell Robinson was questionable until kickoff with an injury.
- UTC's offense only earned one first down in the second half...they picked up three first downs on penalties in the second half.
- Chattanooga came into the game No. 1 in the SoCon and No. 17 in the nation with a +9 turnover margin...the Mocs won that battle again today with a fumble recovery and an INT without turning the ball over.
- Sophomore LB Wes Dothard returned a fumble 41 yards for a TD in the third quarter...it is the Mocs fifth defensive score of the season and the second for Dothard.
- UTC went over seven quarters without a penalty when it jumped offside on defense early in the third quarter...the last flag against Chattanooga was a personal foul on DL Zach Rayl in the third quarter at Elon...UTC came into the game No. 4 in the nation in fewest penalty yards per game at 36.7 and finished with five penalties for 25 yards.
- UTC outrushed Samford 154-92...the Mocs are 12-2 when out rushing their opponent in the Russ Huesman era, including 5-1 in 2011.
- The Mocs improve to 3-0 against Samford in the Russ Huesman era.
- UTC is 13-3 when leading after the third quarter under Huesman, including 3-0 in 2011.
- The Mocs won the possession battle by five minutes (32:44 - 27:16) but Samford ran 14 more plays (66-80).
INDIVIDUAL
WR/QB - Sloan Allison - SR
- Effective in the wildcat formation as a QB...rushed for 32 yards on nine carries.
- Also had two catches for 12 yards.
WR/P - Joel Bradford - SR
- Four catches for 27 yards.
- Damage was done as a punter, averaging 40.4 yards on nine kicks.
- With under three minutes to play and on his own 25-yard line, booted a career-long 59-yarder to Samford's 16.
- With 10 minutes left in the game and from his own 28, kicked a then-career-long 58 yarder to Samford's 14.
- Pinned Samford inside their own 20 four times...two other punts were downed on the 20.
- Three kicks of 50+ yards.
LB - Ryan Consiglio - SR
- Game-high 14 tackles.
- 15th game with 10+ tackles.
- Becomes the 7th Moc with 300 career tackles...No. 7 on UTC's all-time list with 302.
LB - Wes Dothard - SO
- Stripped and recovered a fumble that he ran back 43 yards for a TD...his second score of the season.
- Second score of the season.
- Added six tackles.
DB - Chaz Moore - SO
- Picked off a pass on UTC's 1-yard line for a red-zone stop in the fourth quarter.
- Second INT of the season.
QB - Graham Nichols - SO
- Made his first career start...in place of injured QBs B.J. Coleman (shoulder) and Terrell Robinson (ankle).
- 11-17 passing for 66 yards and no INTs.
- Guided an offense that did not turn the ball over or have a penalty in the first half.
DB - Chris Lewis-Harris - SR
- Season-high nine tackles.
K - Nick Pollard - FR
- Broke Rodney Allen's (1989) freshman scoring record with a 29-yard FG in the second quarter...now has 52 points this season.
- 28-30 on PATs.
- 8-12 on FGs...7-7 inside of 30 yards.
QB - Terrell Robinson - FR
- Played sparingly due to injury, but was still effective in situations
- 3-yard TD run in the first quarter was his fifth of the season...third all-time on UTC's freshman rushing TD list.
- Nine carries for 29 yards.
- 3-3 passing for eight yards.
FB - Taharin Tyson - FR
- Five carries for 13 yards and on TD.
- Tied a season-high for carries.
- Second TD of the season.
DL - Joshua Williams - JR
- Tied a season high with six tackles, including two sacks.
- Now has 8.5 sacks on the year...came into the game No. 2 in the SoCon in sacks.
- Extends his UTC record for career sacks to 20.5.
- On 2-6 from his own 10 in the fourth quarter, sacked Samford's Dustin Taliaferro for a 16-yard loss to help hold the Bulldogs to a field goal.
DB - Kadeem Wise - SO
- Career-high eight tackles, including a TFL.
- Also added a PBU.
