TEAM
- Chattanooga defeats Samford 77-72 in overtime...the Mocs grab their 18th Southern Conference Regular Season title, most in the league since UTC joined in 1977-78, by tying Western Carolina with a 12-6 record in league play...UTC finishes the regular season 16-15 overall...Mocs are 8-1 at home in SoCon action 4-5 on the road. Chattanooga is 8-2 against North Division opponents, 4-4 vs. the South.
- The SoCon Tournament seeds are complete. From the North: (1) Western Carolina, (2) Chattanooga, (3) App State, (4) Elon, (5) UNC Greensboro & (6) Samford. From the South: (1) College of Charleston, (2) Wofford, (3) Furman, (4) Davidson, (5) The Citadel & (6) Georgia Southern. As the No. 2 seed, the Mocs will face the winner of Furman/Samford on Saturday, March 5, at 7 p.m., in the quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament at McKenzie Arena.
- This is the 81st meeting between the two schools with Chattanooga leading 47-34.
- Mocs take an 11-9 lead in the Southern Rail Rivalry Series, a competition between Chattanooga and Samford throughout the school year. Each men's and women's basketball head-to-head regular season contest is worth two points.
- Chattanooga is 641-390 (.621) since moving to Division I (1977-78), 169-233 (.419) on the road. UTC is 347-190 (.646) in SoCon contests, 136-133 (.504) away.
