GREENSBORO, Ga.---The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga got off to a strong start with a four-under par 284 to open the Linger Longer Invitational on the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Plantation.  Chattanooga is tied for first with No. 4 Alabama as they lead No. 15 Stanford (289, +1) by five strokes.

Junior Stephan Jaeger (Munich, Germany) and freshman Benni Weilguni (Langelois, Austria) each carded rounds of three-under par 69 to lead the Mocs.  The duo combined for nine birdies and 24 pars, against just three bogeys.  They are tied for second overall.

Sophomore Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.) was solid with an even-par 72 to give Chattanooga three in the top 10.  Fox is tied for ninth after three birdies and three bogeys were balanced by 12 pars on his card.

Freshman Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) rounded out the team scoring at 74 (+2) including a key birdie on 18.  Freshman Davis Bunn had the drop score of 76 (+4).

No. 13 Georgia and Kennesaw State are tied for fourth at 291 (+3).  Charlotte is 11 back in sixth at 295, while Florida State, 2010 national semi-finalist, is seventh at 296.

Alabama's Cory Whitsett is the individual leader after a sparkling eight-under par round of 64.  Jaeger and Weilguni are tied with four others at 69.  Fox is tied with seven in ninth at level par, 72.
