FLORENCE, S.C.---The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's golf team is in a three-way tie for first place through 18 holes at the Southern Conference Championship at the Country Club of South Carolina.  Chattanooga shot one-under par 287 and is tied with Samford and Georgia Southern.

Junior Stephan Jaeger (Munich, Germany) paced the Mocs with a two-under par 70.  He is tied for fourth, two shots behind leaders Richard Fountain (Davidson) and Lewis Gruber (Georgia Southern) at minus four, 68.

Freshman Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) is tied for eighth at one-under par 71.  It is his fourth par or better round at the Country Club of South Carolina this season.  He shot nine under in winning the Springhill Suites Collegiate in September.

Sophomore Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.) and freshman Benni Weilguni (Langelois, Austria) are tied for 17th at 73 (+1).  Freshman Davis Bunn (Knoxville, Tenn.) was solid with a 74 (+2) and is tied for 21st.

Chattanooga began its round on the tougher back nine and made its turn at three-over par.  UTC played holes one and two at three-under par on its counting cards to swiftly get back to even.  Jaeger played holes 1-9 at four under to lead the charge up the leaderboard.

The Mocs are in the final pairings for Monday's second round playing with Samford and Georgia Southern.  Bunn leads off No. 1 at 9:50 a.m., followed by Fox (10:00), Weilguni (10:10), Robb (10:20) and Jaeger (10:30).  Live scoring can be found on GoMocs.com on the men's golf schedule page.
