BURLINGTON, Iowa --- The Chattanooga Mocs added a stroke to its lead behind strong performances by Stephan Jaeger (Munich, Germany) and Benni Weilguni (Langelois, Austria) at the Golfweek Conference Challenge Monday. Jaeger and Weilguni posted three-under par 69s as UTC shot 291 (+3) for a two-day total of 570 (-6).
The Mocs lead Oklahoma State by two in second (572) and Arkansas by four (574). Defending champion Iowa is in fourth at 577.
Jaeger holds the individual lead as well at eight under, 136. He opened with birdies on five of first six holes before battling through sideways rain at Spirit Hollow Golf Course. His birdie on 18, his sixth of the day, gave the Mocs their two-stroke cushion.
Weilguni got off to a slower start than Jaeger, but he turned it on in the midst of the driving rain. He had four of his five birdies on the back nine to including four in six holes. He is now tied for 12th at level par, 144.
Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) is tied for 21st at 147 (+3) with a 78 this afternoon. His birdie on 18 was a key in the Mocs adding to their first round lead.
Liam Johnston (Dumfries, Scotland) is tied for 23rd at 148 (+4) after today's 75. He joined Jaeger and Robb with birdies on the par five 18th.
Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.) had the drop score with an 80. He's tied for 41st at 150.
Jaeger will be playing with his medalist rivals in the final round. He leads Sean Einhaus (Oklahoma State) by one at six under (137). Josh Eure (Arkansas) is another shot back at minus five (138).
The final round is a shotgun start with the Mocs teeing off on holes 1-3 at 8:30 a.m. (EDT). UTC is paired with Oklahoma State and Arkansas.
