Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga at UNCG
Greensboro, N.C. - Greensboro Coliseum
Jan. 19, 2011
Head Coach John Shulman
On the game:
"We did a nice job in the first half of throwing the first punch. Then we battled back and they go up 10. We don't quit and battle back to a two-point game with under a minute to go. Then you have to think about every box out and free throw that we missed. Our margin for error is not real big. It just is not. If we don't noticeably out-play Greensboro, we are not going to beat Greensboro. If we don't make all the little plays, important rebounds and box outs, we are not going to beat people. That doesn't mean that we can't. We can, but you have to make all the little plays. Every possession is the most important possession of the game. We are up 7-0 and give up an offensive rebound and they make a three. That was a three they did not earn. Sooner or later we have to get better at boxing out. We work on it every day in practice and even today in shoot around."
On Keegan having to score for the team to be successful:
"I don't think so. He has to handle the ball well. He had some turnovers tonight. They got after him and it was a physical basketball game. I don't think he has to score, but if he doesn't score, then he needs to have eight or nine assists, which he was getting at one time. Now, we are in league play. In league play, things just do not come as easy as they do in non-league play. Teams dissect you."
Senior Guard Ricky Taylor
On the game:
"They did a phenomenal job tonight. We have to give a lot of credit to them. The game was in our hands, but towards the end we made mental mistakes. We were right there, but did not execute properly. Coach called an offensive call and we forget the play. We run it every single day in practice. On defense, we do the same defense every day in practice and seem to forget. We just have to correct our mental aspects of it. We should be able to pull out these games."
On improving the little things:
"UNCG was scrappy tonight. They fought really hard and got a lot of loose balls. At times the ball could have been in our hands, they just out-worked us. Our effort was great, but we just have to continue to work at it and get better."
Sophomore Forward Drazen Zloravic
On achieving a double-double in a losing effort:
"I am truly disappointed. I thought that we battled throughout the game. We were always kind of behind and tried to get back in it. Finally at the end, we get caught up and that three goes in. It was just disappointing. If that three did not go in and we convert, then we have a chance to win the game. We have to bounce back and turnaround to play in two days."
On the importance of being focused on the road for the entire game:
"When you are at home, everything is different. The crowd is into it. You can mess up here and there and make it up. People feel a lot more comfortable. On the road, it is a different story. You have to make three or four more plays like coach said tonight. The same thing happened at Samford. You just got to finish three or four more plays."
