EATONTON, Ga. --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is third after 36 holes at the Linger Longer Invitational on Great Waters Course at Reynolds Plantation. UTC is at one-over par 577 after rounds of 289 (+1) and 288 (E).

Senior Stephan Jaeger (Munich, Germany) had the low round of the day for the Mocs with an opening round 68 (-4). He is tied for 11th at minus two (142).

Junior Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn) and sophomore Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) are tied for 15th a shot back of Jaeger at one under (143). Fox fired a three-under 69 on his second 18 today, while Robb was consistent with a level par 72 and one-under 71.

Freshman Liam Johnston (Dumfries, Scotland) is tied for 38th at 149 (+5). Sophomore Benni Weilguni is tied for 66th at 159. Sophomore Davis Bunn (Knoxville, Tenn.) is tied for 50th (152) playing as an individual.

No. 7 Alabama is leading after shooting 12-under par 564. The Crimson Tide's 278 (-10) was the low team score for the day. No. 25 Georgia is second at minus seven (569), eight shots clear of Chattanooga.

A trio of golfers is tied for first at five under. Mercer's James Beale, Kennesaw State's Jeff Karlsson and Notre Dame's Max Scodro have a one shot cushion on a quartet of golfers tied for fourth at minus four.

UTC was in third after an opening round 289. It made an early run at in the second 18 making the turn at seven under. It was a tough final stretch of holes dropping five shots over the last three holes.

Sunday's final round starts at 9:18 a.m., for the Mocs who are paired with the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs. Weilguni starts off No. 1 for the Mocs followed by Johnston (9:27), Robb (9:36), Fox (9:45) and Jaeger (9:54). Bunn tees off at 8:15 a.m., on No. 10.
