ORANGE PARK, Fla. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team ended the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational tied for fifth with East Tennessee State. UTC shot 307 today for a 54-hole total of 904.
Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia) led the five team scorers in the tourney tying for ninth shooting five-over par 221. It is the freshman's second top 10 finish, and best 54-hole score, of her young career.
She was not alone in posting her best total. Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France) tied for 13th in just her second tourney with the Mocs. Her one-over par 73 Sunday led the team as she ended up a stroke behind McLennan overall at 222.
Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark), Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) also competed for the Mocs. Kryger shot 229 missing her best 54-hole score by two shots which came in the spring's opening event. Loza shot 232, while Britt registered 238.
Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) and Porsche Campbell (Vancouver, Canada) played as individuals with Duvernay also finishing in the top 10. After opening with a 78, she shot two under over her final 36 holes for a plus-four 220 tying for seventh. Campbell shot 235 for her 54 holes.
Campbell University won the event by 21 shots over Mississippi State. The Fighting Camels shot 870 (+6), while the Bulldogs came in at 891. East Carolina's Frida Gustafsson Spang won medalist honors by three shots. She was the wire-to-wire winner firing a four-under 212.
Chattanooga returns to the course this Friday remaining in Florida for the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole event is March 15-17. Live scoring link is above or on the women's golf schedule page on GoMocs.com.
