AUBURN, Ala. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team did not find the ending it hoped for at the NCAA East Regional, but it walks away with head high. UTC finished tied for 19th with Penn State at Auburn University Club.
The Mocs' 911 over their 54 holes is the second-best total in NCAA postseason play for the squad. The group also tallied a school postseason record 137 pars for the event.
Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) led the way shooting a one-over par 73 in the final round to finish with a total of 224. It is her best score in three regional appearances topping last year's 225 at Penn State by one. Her 40 pars are a new school best in regional action.
Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia) was next for the Mocs shooting 227. She was followed closely by Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France) at 229. Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) ended play at 231, while Porsche Campbell (Vancouver, Canada) shot 247.
UTC's record performances came in its sixth appearance in as many years of the program's existence. It was the fifth consecutive regional for team after Emma de Groot (2008-11) qualified as an individual in the 2008 inaugural season.
Defending National Champion Alabama dominated the field shooting 20-under par 844. No. 20 Tulane came in second at 852 (-12), as No. 5 Arkansas and No. 17 Oklahoma State are tied for third at level par (864). That foursome is joined by No. 23 Texas, Northwestern, No. 8 UCLA and Auburn in qualifying for the NCAA Championship.
Alabama's Stephanie Meadow posted three rounds in the 60's to win medalist honors by six strokes. She shot 13-under par 203 to claim victory by six over Princeton's Kelly Shon. Shon and Tennessee's Erica Popson nabbed the two individual spots advancing to the finals as well.
