MOCS FALL TO UNCG IN SOCON SOCCER ACTION FRIDAY NIGHT
GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga fell 9-0 to UNCG following an hour-and-a-half weather delay Friday night in Southern Conference women's soccer action. The Spartans improve to 7-4-3 overall and 3-0-1 in SoCon play while the Mocs fall to 1-11-1 on the year and 0-4 against the league.
“The delay hurt bad,” UTC head coach J.D. Kyzer said. “We're too young and inexperienced to take a long delay. We'll regroup and go at it Sunday.”
UNCG's Chesney White scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute and added two more early in the second half for a hat trick and assisted on another while Tracy Wolf scored the final two goals. Katelyn Mountjoy scored the Spartans' third goal of the game and assisted on three more in the win.
“We were down 3-0 at halftime and could have just sat back, but we're in conference now,” Kyzer said. “We decided to go at them and hopefully get a goal or two.”
Freshman keeper Hannah Dunn (Cookeville, Tenn.) snared 10 saves in 90 minutes. Senior Crystal Mackezyk (Columbia, Tenn.) had one shot on goal while junior Clare Latham (Cordova, Tenn.) and freshman McKenzie Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) added one shot each.
