Chattanooga Football Postgame Quotes
No. 9 Chattanooga at Tennessee Tech
Tucker Stadium (16,500) – Cookeville, Tenn.
Saturday – Nov. 15, 2014
Head Coach Russ Huesman
Thoughts on the game:
“I told our team, I thought we played well. We had some hiccups out there today, some things we gotta get cleaned up. Thought for the most part we played a pretty sound game. I gonna watch this film and know that we can play better. But when our offense puts 38 up there, defensively I thought other than two plays out here we played pretty good. We gave up the post and then the long run, but for the most part played pretty decent. It's a good win, but sloppy a little bit, but we'll take it.
On the importance of getting this win for NCAA Playoff seeding:
“All you guys talked about was a hangover or let down from that last game. When you got an older team, a mature team, when you got a good football team, they don't let those things happen. The team didn't let that happen today. They came out playing.
“I thought we had good energy. I don't know if it was great energy, but good enough energy and that's what I wanted to see today. Coming off a big win against Wofford and then today, beating a good team.”
On Jacob tying a career-high with four TDs:
“He played good. He's a good player. I think our wideouts again made some really good catches. That last catch by Xavier Borishade in the end zone was fantastic. Our guys making plays for him, there's no question about it. Faysal is such a big body. Richardre really had a nice day and made a couple of really nice catches. It's good to see and I thought he played well.”
Senior Taharin Tyson
On executing the fake punt:
“We had two guys outside of Nakevion [Leslie]. He came over with some good information for us. It was perfect look. We loved the look, so it was great.
How big of a play was the fake punt?
“It was huge. We needed somebody to spark us and I love the fact that coach trusted me to be able to do that. Luckily I gave us a spark.”
On avoiding a letdown after the Wofford win:
“It's huge because it shows how mature of a team we are. We were on top of the world last week. It's a huge win, sealed the conference. It's really huge for a team to come out here. It shows the leadership. We have a lot of leadership from the seniors and a lot of the younger guys. It's great to see that.”
Sophomore Keionta Davis
On how the defense played:
“We prepared well all week. Every time we do that, we come out and play well. We just got to fix some minor things, just mental issues, and we'll be alright.:
On the importance of the Furman game next week:
“It's going to be big. We need the momentum to get us into the top 8. If we win out the rest of the season, it's big going into the playoffs with all that momentum.”
