MBB Postgame Quotes - Wisconsin - Nov. 16, 2014

Chattanooga Head Coach Will Wade
Thoughts on the game
“We played pretty well.  I give our guys credit because we competed the entire game.  The guys executed our scouting report very well.  When you play a team of their caliber, they're going to shoot the ball that well and hit that many threes.  There's some give-and-take when you're in this sort of game, and that's what we were willing to give up.  Normally we are all over the three-pointer.  They knocked them down and did a great job, and they are one of the two or three best teams in the country – if not the best team.  I have a ton of respect for them and their program, but I though our guys played hard.  We were taking charges there at the end and diving on the floor.  I thought some individual players had some really nice performances.  I thought Ronrico White played well, I thought Casey Jones did some nice things and Tuoyo was a problem down there in the paint for Wisconsin.  But all is not lost.  I told the team in the locker room that I feel better about us after this one than I do after Hiwassee.  We played a high-level team and did some good things.  I wish they wouldn't have gotten off to such a fast start shooting the ball so we could have hung in there a little longer, but that's what happens.”

On being held to three offensive rebounds
“Offensive rebounding is a big part of what we do.  We were top 15 or 20 in the country in offensive rebounding percentage.  It is a big part of what we do. We work on it every day, and you're not going to get any second-chance shots on them.  They're very good at that.  We know our first-shot offense was going to have to be good, but it wasn't.  We got some good looks but we have to knock them in, and we will.  We have good shooters and we've put a lot of time into it.  They'll knock them in and our average will rise.”

On finding help for Jones, White and Tuoyo
“They will get some more help.  Pryor has been that guy for us, but he didn't get many clean looks.  Chuck is a good player, Duke is an option, there's Eric… We have a lot of options.  Shaq had one go in-and-out.  Every time he rises up in the lane I think it's going in.  We have plenty of other options and guys who can make plays, but those three were tremendous and carried us for a while.  We just need some more guys to come join the party.  You want to put the team in positions like this, and we knew this when we scheduled Wisconsin.  I'm pleased with the guys.”

Thoughts on the team's efforts
“I thought our guys were doing the small stuff that's needed to win.  Even tonight they were scrapping for loose balls, fighting, our bench was good and we were talking on defense.  That stuff wins.  That's part of our culture.  I was proud of our guys for sticking with our plan and formula.  They responded the right way all day.  I have no doubt we are going to respond well and be ready for Tuesday.”

Looking ahead to Butler
“They have a point-forward, Roosevelt Jones, who is a good player, and they have some big kids who are pretty good.  They are a good outfit.  They struggled a little last year, but Jones wasn't with them last year.  It is going to be a challenge for our guys, but I know they will be ready to go and we'll be excited to be there.  We are going to compete, and we are going to see what happens four minutes at a time.”

Ronrico White, guard, senior
Thoughts on the game
“Wisconsin is a very good team.  They have great players and they play together as a team.  They know exactly where each other is on the floor.  They are very precise, but I thought we did some good things out there today.”

On playing in an environment like Kohl Center
“I've played at Kentucky, Tennessee, Kansas and places like that.  They're very similar to this, but once you get down to it we're all just basketball players.  I wanted to come out and be aggressive for my team and try to be the best I can.”

On gelling together as a team on the court
“We had some guys nervous against Hiwassee because it was the first game.  We have to mesh better.  We have the chemistry off the court, and the on-court chemistry is going to come.  Once we get that clicking on the court, it's going to be a special ride.”
