Chattanooga Mocs Quotes - Dec. 11, 2014 - at The Citadel
Chattanooga Head Coach Will Wade
Thoughts on the game
“We played well. Our guys did a really nice job. The Citadel is good. I was worried about their physicality coming in, but our guys followed the game plan, and they were locked in. We've been getting better and doing great things in practice, and it was going to show up.”
On the team's response to adversity
“I thought the game turned when they tied it at 21 and we went on a 10-2 run to end the half. That's something we haven't been able to do all season. We haven't been able to respond to adversity like that. To be up by eight at the half is huge. I thought that really set the tone, and we were able to begin the second half with a lot of momentum. We pushed the lead to 15 and we made them want to run the clock a lot. We pulled back on the press so we could settle in and let them use some time.”
On the Mocs team-effort against The Citadel
“I thought we got great contributions from a lot of folks. I was really proud and I told the team that. Chuck and Duke were huge for us because we had been looking for numbers from them. Our first nine baskets were scored by nine different folks. I thought we had contributions from a lot of people.”
Thoughts on the UTC defense
“Our guys were locked in defensively. We guarded really well. We ran 40 different plays during shootaround about how we were going to guard them. Our guys did a tremendous job with that, and I am most proud of that. Defensive rebounds travel. The defense was outstanding tonight. We beat them by 12 on the boards. If you do that on that road, you're going to win on the road.”
Justin Tuoyo, forward, sophomore
Thoughts on opening up Southern Conference play
“Conference is what you prepare for during the summer. We do what we have to do to make sure we're at the top of the league. Everyone knew this was a big conference game and we played like it. Everyone contributed.”
Thoughts on his performance
“It's SoCon time and I feel like I am getting more into the game. Exams are over and the team has a little break from school right now. I feel like I am getting my flow back and really contributing to the team. I felt good tonight.”
Tre' McLean, forward, sophomore
Thoughts on the game
“Coach Wade prepared us really well for this game. This was a road game and we knew we had to be tough. We wanted to perform well while facing some adversity. We put the piece together tonight and it comes on a very important night as we open up in the SoCon against The Citadel.”
On his defensive play, containing Moore
“Moore is a really good player and I know him personally. Coach Wade told me tonight he needed me to play defense and I was able to do that for him.”
On the Mocs team work
“Tonight wasn't a one-man effort. It was a great team effort. All 13 guys contributed in some way. You had someone boxing out, rebounding, scoring… something every time down the court. It was a great group effort.”
