MBB Postgame Quotes - Middle Tennessee - Dec. 19, 2014

Head Coach Will Wade
Thoughts on the game
“I thought we did some good things tonight.  I was pleased with how we were able to respond when Middle Tennessee got up by 16.  We were able to knock it back down to five points.  We went to the free throw line to cut it to four points.  There were some good things that happened.  Our guys showed good mettle and good response during the game, but we didn't shoot the ball as well as we have been shooting it.  I thought we got some good looks.”

On the Chattanooga offense
“We were a little bit out of rhythm, but I thought Pryor was great on both offense and defense.  Eric did his thing by knocking down the threes, but we were a little out of rhythm and that was the difference.  We weren't hitting some shots, but our guys pounded the offensive glass, which was great.  We really did a nice job on the offensive glass which is something I feel like we need to do.  I thought we really rebounded well in the first half.  We were really out-rebounding them at the half.”

Thoughts on Middle Tennessee
“That is a really physical team.  They're one of the most physical teams we will play all year.  And it hurts not having Justin in there because teams can really pin their ears back and drive the lanes against us.  He makes it a little harder to drive against us because he is such a great shot-blocker.  Give Middle Tennessee credit.  They are a big, physical team, and they had a kid step up and hit some big shots.  He hadn't been doing that most of the year.”

Thoughts on Chattanooga overall
“I liked a lot of stuff.  I wish we would have made a couple more momentum shots, but I like the team we have.  We were connected tonight, the bench was tight and everybody was into it.  Everybody was rolling in the same direction.”

Thoughts on C-USA teams and UAB
“They are bigger, more physical than a SoCon team, and UAB will be the same way, but we have to go after them.  We have to go at them.  We have them at home and we are going to be ready to compete.  I like our guys and our team.  It is time to go out there and show what we have against a Conference USA team on our own court.”

Thoughts on the game
“Middle Tennessee is a great team.  You have to give credit to them.  Down the stretch, we went on a run and got a couple of stops.  We just didn't capitalize on shots.  It was a physical game and we practiced for that.  We toughened up in the second half, got some better looks and cut into the deficit.  It was just one of those nights where we missed a lot of good shots.”

On losing Justin Tuoyo to foul trouble
“Justin is a big part of our team.  He is the biggest guy we have and has a lot of experience.  We just get into some trouble when he gets into foul trouble.”

Thoughts on Middle Tennessee's offense
“I think Middle Tennessee took advantage of all of the fouls.  They played the game at their pace and took the wind out of us there near the end.  We were fighting the shot clock the entire game, and they controlled the shot clock.  It's frustrating when they run down the shot clock and make a good shot at the last second.”
