Chattanooga vs. East Tennessee State
1978-2009

1977-78: Chattanooga joins the Southern Conference.

1978-79: East Tennessee State joins the SoCon, plays first league game in 1979-80 season.

1979-80: Bucs sweep three games from Mocs in first season in the league. ETSU wins first five meetings from Jan. 28, 1980-Feb. 9, 1981.

1981-82: Mocs get first SoCon win over the Bucs on the road en route to a three-game sweep beating ETSU in the SoCon semis in Charleston, W.Va., before topping Davidson for second straight NCAA appearance. Chattanooga went on to beat N.C. State in Indianapolis before falling to Minnesota by one to narrowly miss the NCAA Sweet 16. The Wolfpack won the national championship a year later.

1982-83: Chattanooga sweeps series 3-0 topping Bucs 80-72 in the SoCon title game for third consecutive NCAA appearance.

1983-84: Bucs snap seven-game losing streak to the Mocs on Feb. 25, 1984 in Johnson City. Chattanooga wins season series 2-1. The Mar. 2, 1984 win in Asheville at the SoCon started a nine-game winning streak in the series.

1988-89: Chattanooga wins regular season matchups in overtime 86-82 in Johnson City and 74-73 in the Scenic City. ETSU got revenge in the SoCon semis in Asheville winning 76-73. Bucs went on to win the first of four straight SoCon Tournaments.

1990-91: Mocs beat 15th-ranked ETSU squad 76-74 at home (Jan. 21, 1991). Bucs win final two meeting by 23 in Johnson City and a Bucs-best 33 points in SoCon semis in Asheville.

1991-92: Interesting season in the series. Both teams won on the road in the regular season before ETSU won 74-62 in the SoCon Championship game in Asheville. The 10,915 in McKenzie Arena on Feb. 15, 1992 is the largest SoCon crowd in school history.

1992-93: Chattanooga wins the first of four SoCon Tourneys in five years over ETSU 86-75 in Asheville.

1995-96: The Mocs sweep series winning by two at ETSU and 33 at home.

1996-97: ETSU snaps Chattanooga's 11-game winning streak with 70-69 overtime win in Johnson City. The eight win in that run was another 30-point triumph over the Bucs.

2002-04: The Bucs win four straight in the series starting with the 2003 SoCon Championship game and ending with the 2004 title tilt with both games in North Charleston, S.C.

2004-05: The Mocs end four-game skid to ETSU with a series-record 34-point win in McKenzie Arena 93-59. It was the first of three wins that season including in the SoCon Quarterfinals. Bucs leave the SoCon.

2006-09: Chattanooga and ETSU split four-game non-conference series with each winning at home over four seasons. The combined score over the four games…307-307.
