CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Mocs athletics program saw a record-breaking 33 student-athletes named to the spring Academic All-Southern Conference team Wednesday afternoon.  It is the most Mocs to be named to the spring team in program history, and gives Chattanooga a total of 81 tabbed Academic All-SoCon in the 2013-14 school year. That sets yet another school record (33 spring, 20 winter, 28 fall).  The previous high for a year was 78 in 2010-11.

To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point-average entering the spring campaign and compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.

Three Mocs maintained a perfect 4.0 cumulative g.p.a., including track & field's Patrick O'Brien and Helenka Kis and SoCon Champion golfer Emily McLennan.  Outdoor track & field led the pack with 18 selections – 13 from the men's roster and five from the women's.  Softball and women's tennis each had five, while women's golf had three. Men's golf and men's tennis each had one. 

Other notable Mocs to make the team include track & field's cross country All-American, SoCon Freshman of the Year and NCAA Region competitor Teghan Henderson who posted a 3.87 as a Business major.  SoCon Women's Golfer of the Year Jordan Britt boasted a 3.54 as an Exercise Science major. All-SoCon tennis performers Kayla Jones (3.31), Alexa Flynn (3.64), Kaylene Chadwell (3.87) and Claire Muldayi (3.69) were among the honorees, as was SoCon All-Tournament softball team member Sam Taylor who maintained a 3.61 as a Mathematics major.
