Tull Named Sports Network National Defensive Player of the Week

| By:

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior defensive end Davis Tull was named National Defensive Player of the Week by The Sports Network today.  Tull had an outstanding game in the Mocs' 38-24 win over Samford in Southern Conference action on Saturday.

Tull is a candidate for the Buck Buchanan Award, given to the top defensive player in the FCS by The Sports Network.  He anchored the Chattanooga defensive line, tallying six tackles with four for loss and two sacks.

He also added a forced fumble and three quarterback hurries to his performance. With the two sacks over the weekend, Tull moved into a tie for ninth place on the SoCon's all-time career sacks list with 29.5.  He came into the season as the Mocs' all-time leader and the active leader in the FCS for sacks.

Chattanooga is ranked 14th in both polls this week and hosts VMI for Homecoming on Saturday.  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at Finley Stadium.  Tickets are on sale now on GoMocs.com or by calling the UTC Ticket Office at (423) 266-MOCS (6627).
