Sauzon?s Top 10 Leads Mocs in 6th-Place in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga.---Another week, another top 10 for senior Agathe Sauzon. The senior from Valence, France shot even-par 71 to finish tied for 10th at 5 over (218) in the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate. Her play led the Chattanooga Mocs to a sixth-place ending with a total of 896, the second-best 54-hole total of the season.
The Mocs had a final round 300. Sauzon's 71 combined with a 75 from Cris Perez, 76 by Megan Woods and 78 from Emily McLennan. McLennan's 224 was good for a tie for 18th overall. Sarah Dolmovich had the drop score turning in an 81.
“You want to play your best golf in April and May, to keep get better heading into the championship calendar,” coach Colette Murray noted. “I'm encouraged by our younger players. They're togetherness and eagerness to grow and get better made a big impression this weekend.
“Aggie has not played her best yet, and she's putting up numbers,” she continued. “That shows she's growing as a player. When all the parts of her game come together, she's going to have something pretty special.”
Sauzon's 218 is a season-best total for a Moc just ahead of the 219 she and McLennan scored in the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic to open the month. It's the best 54-hole score in nearly a year since Jordan Britt's 212 (-4) at the 2014 Web.com Intercollegiate. Sauzon has a 72.83 stroke average through six spring rounds.
Coastal Carolina claimed a six-shot win with an 867. Kennesaw State and No. 21 Furman tied for second (873). CCU's Lena Schaeffner's 3-under 68 earned her medalist honors with a 4-under 209. Malene Kroboll Hansen (CCU) and Taylor Totland (Furman) tied for second at 3 under.
The Mocs next head to Johns Island outside of Charleston, S.C., for the Briar's Creek Invitational. The tourney is March 23-24 at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek. Find tee times and live scoring on the women's golf schedule page on GoMocs.com when available.
