DAVIDSON, N.C.---The Chattanooga Mocs got the spring campaign off to a solid start with an even-par 288 to take the lead at the Davidson College Invitational. It was a balanced effort as the four counters turned in level-par 72's.

“I'm very pleased,” coach Mark Guhne shared. “Drop score of 74 first time out? That's not too bad. I'm not sure I have much to complain about. It was a good day.

“Tomorrow's going to be rough weather-wise,” he added. “We are going to have to be mentally tough. I'm looking for us to grind out a solid final 18.”

The four-some of Liam Johnston, Wes Gosselin, Andrew Weathers and Kory Webb shot even-par 72's tying for sixth through 18 holes. They combined to tally 14 birdies on the day. Ewan Scott is tied for 25th with the drop score with a 74. Brooks Thomas turned in a 75 playing as an individual and is tied for 32nd.

The Mocs lead Charlotte by one and third-place Wofford by six. The 49ers Victor Wiggins is the individual leader at -2 (70). There are four tied for second at -1, just a stroke ahead of Chattanooga's quartet at E.

Chattanooga's final round starts on the first hole paired with Charlotte and Wofford. Scott leads off with Webb (10:09), Weathers (10:18), Gosselin (10:27) and Liam Johnston (10:36) close behind. Live scoring and tee times are paired above.
