- The 17th ranked Chattanooga basketball team needed overtime to defeat ETSU 61-56 in the finals of the 2015 Southern Conference Tournament at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, N.C. today. UTC improves to 29-3 overall while ETSU drops to 21-11.
- 16th SoCon Tournament title for UTC.
- Mocs are 16-0 in SoCon Tournament Championship games.
- Third-straight SoCon Tournament Title.
- 29 wins ties a school record equaled in each of the last two seasons.
- 25-game win streak ties for the third longest in school history and is currently the third longest run in the NCAA.
- First OT game of the season … third in Jim Foster's tenure at UTC … Mocs won both last season.
- UTC scored the first seven points in overtime.
- UTC led 35-17 at the break … Chattanooga has held its opponent to 20 points or less in the first half in eight of the last nine games … 16 times total this season … Mocs are 23-0 when leading at the break.
- ETSU led 13-8 at the 11:23 mark of the first half … Mocs went on a 35-6 run that lasted into the first three minutes of the second half. ESTU did not top 20 points until Destiny Mitchell scored inside at the 16:55 mark in the second half.
- A three-pointer by Keiana Gilbert gave UTC a 43-19 lead at the 17:23 mark … ESTU then went on a 26-3 run of their own to cut UTC's lead to 46-43 with 5:02 left to play.
- ETSU stayed in the game behind 18 offensive boards that led to an 18-3 advantage in second-chance points.
- Mocs recorded 10 steals in the game … 13th time this season with 10+ points.
