Mocs Head to Kiawah Island to Complete Fall Slate

Cristina Perez and the Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team is back in action Sunday on Kiawah Island.

CHATTANOOGA---It's a quick turnaround for the Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team. Fresh off the green Tuesday, they return to the tee Sunday in Kiawah Island for the Palmetto Intercollegiate.
This is the third entry in the event for the Mocs. The lineup of Cristina Perez, Megan Woods, Monica San Juan, Holly Morgan and Maria Pineiro have experience to fall back on. It's Perez and Woods' third visit to Turtle Point at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort and San Juan's second.
The Mocs finished as runners-up a year ago. San Juan's final round 69 propelled her squad past Illinois and Campbell into second.
Perez leads the current roster in scoring at 73.83 strokes per 18. Morgan is two shot behind her at 74.00, while San Juan is third (74.42) with Woods (75.58) and Pineiro (75.89) right behind.
Turtle Point welcomes a solid field of 20 to its par 72, 5,972-yard tract. The 43rd-ranked Mocs are joined by seven other top 100 programs headlined by Augusta at No. 34. Campbell (59), Coastal Carolina (65), Ole Miss (67), ETSU (76) and Troy (82) provide stiff competition as well with several other programs looking to join the top 100 with a strong finish.
