AKRON, Ohio---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team had its best 36-hole score of the season shooting even-par 576 on Firestone Country Club's North Course. The squad opened with 290 and came back with an afternoon 286.
 
Seniors Wes Gosselin and Brooks Thomas led the way. Gosselin is tied for 12th at 3-under 141 carding rounds of 70 and 71. Thomas is tied for 18th, a stroke behind at -2 with twin cards of 71.
 
Stuart Thomas' 70 over his second 18 matched Gosselin for the Mocs low round. He's tied for 35th at +2. Andrew Weathers (73-76) and Lake Johnson (79-74) round out the scoring with 149 and 153, respectively.
 
Illinois State is the team leader with a 562. That's two better than host Akron in second and five clear of the pair of Cincinnati and Dayton tied for third at 567. The Bearcats' Austin Squires is the individual leader at -7, one stroke ahead of five student-athletes in second at -6.
 
The Mocs are first off the No. 1 tee at 8:30 a.m., for Tuesday's final round. Johnson leads ahead of Weathers, S. Thomas, B. Thomas and Gosselin with the Mocs paired with Ball State and Ohio. Click the links above for 36-hole results, live scoring and pairings.
