Postgame Quotes - North Carolina

2016-17 Chattanooga Mocs Basketball
Post-Game Quotes
Nov. 13, 2016 – North Carolina – Chapel Hill, N.C. – Dean E. Smith Center

Matt McCall, Head Coach
Opening statement after loss at North Carolina.
"Terrific team (UNC). They are just so talented and so good. They have multiple weapons on that team that run the team so well. They are a top-five program in the country for a reason. I thought we played pretty well in the first half before we found ourselves in foul trouble and they went on a little run to close out the first half. We just didn't string together enough stops together out of the locker room into the second half and you can't do that against a team of this caliber. When you don't get those stops it's going to be a long night for you against this team."

On Rodney Chatman's play as a true freshman against an experienced UNC team.
"Rodney (Chatman) is going to be a terrific player for us. It's a great learning experience for him tonight as well as our whole team. I thought he played really well against a junior guard (Joel Berry) who played in the National Championship game, and Rodney played in one collegiate game. I think our whole team can take a lot of experience out of this."

On the next step.
"We'll learn from this. We'll go back home and watch the tape. We'll cut some things up and then go out and get better."

Justin Tuoyo, Senior
Matching up against #6 North Carolina.
"They have some great players on that team. We just don't match up size-wise against a team like that and it took a toll on us tonight. They did what they had to do and executed their gameplan against us."

On North Carolina taking advantage of mistakes.
"They make you pay for all the mistakes that you make. They have a great coaching staff and a group of great players that take advantage of every mistake. We're not where we want to be right now and we'll go work hard and get better as a team."

The experience taken away from a game of this caliber.
"This is a historical program. You look around and see all the jersey's in the rafters, it's legendary, it's like playing in Madison Square Garden. It's fun to be a part of games like this. When you grow up watching college basketball you always dream of playing in places like this (Dean E. Smith Center), but it's a real challenge against a team of this caliber and we don't want to back down."

Greg Pryor, Senior
On North Carolina as a team.
"They are a really good team. They have some long athletic players and it's a tough matchup. They really boxed us out and took away our gameplan. We had too many turnovers and allowed the crowd to get into the game and it's tough to come back from that."

On what to expect moving forward.
"We just need to stay focused on what we work on as a team. We just need to slow down after an opposing team makes a play and not get rattled into turning the ball over."

On UNC closing the first-half on a run that created seperation.
"They out-rebounded and out-boxed us out and that was largely on the size all around the board. We made some bad turnovers and contributed to their run to end the first half."

"As a team we have a lot of confidence. The young guys really didn't know what we are completely capable of with them not seeing last year's success. It was great to have them contribute and show them how good we can really be."
