CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team fell 71-55 to Wisconsin-Green Bay Friday afternoon at the McKenzie Arena in non-conference action. Chattanooga falls to 3-4 overall and Green Bay improves to 4-1 on the year.
 
Freshman Lakelyn Bouldin (Spencer, Tenn.) led the Mocs with a career-high 16 points making 6-of-9 from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Senior Queen Alford (Decatur, Ga.) also scored in double figures with 14 points in 26 minutes.
 
The Phoenix jumped out to a 27-6 first quarter lead. They were 11-of-12 from the floor, missing just once from beyond the arc in the period while UTC made just 2-of-10.
 
The Mocs responded outscoring Green Bay 18-15 in the second and 16-11 in the third to cut the lead to 53-40 heading into the final quarter. Alford hit a 3-pointer at the 4:51 mark of the third to cut the Phoenix lead to 46-37 and UTC would get that close just once more in the third on free throws from senior Sydney Vanlandingham (Hermitage, Tenn.) with 2:18 remaining.
 
Green Bay retook control in the fourth leading by as much as 23 and never letting the Mocs get any closer than 12 points.
 
After giving up four treys in the opening frame, UTC held Green Bay to just 2-of-6 the remainder of the game with the Phoenix making just one in the third and another in the fourth.
 
"I find it interesting that in a game where there were a ton a screens that facilitates communication if you're going to be successful defending it," UTC head coach Jim Foster said. "That we can defend it in the second and third quarters to a high level, giving them one 3-pointer. But in the first and fourth quarters, we don't have that sense of urgency."
 
The Phoenix shot 59.2 percent for the game, making 29-of-49 including a 6-of-11 3-point effort They outrebounded UTC 29-19 with 16 assists and 10 steals.
 
"We're not playing bad teams," Foster said. "We're playing really good teams that are a lot tougher than we are right now. The good news is its November."
 
The Mocs made 20-of-47 and were 7-of-25 from beyond the arc while sinking 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Junior Keiana Gilbert (Pulaski, Tenn.) had seven points and a team-best five rebounds to go along with two assists and two steals.
 
Green Bay outscored the Mocs 40-20 in the paint and 23-10 off the bench. Chattanooga forced 17 turnovers and capitalized with a 24-18 point advantage and both teams had nine second chance points.
 
Mehryn Kraker led all scorers with 20 points and had a game-high five assists. Terry Sam had 14 points off the bench, making 6-of-8 including two 3-pointers and five rebounds. Jessica Lindstrom had 12 points and a game-high eight boards.
 
The Mocs hit the road again to play in their final game of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge Sunday against Maine at the MassMutual Center with a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
 
On Tuesday, Chattanooga will take on the defending national champions, UConn at the XL Center in Hartford. That game is set to tip at 7:00 p.m.
