The Chattanooga Mocs softball team fell to Western Carolina 3-0 to start the series in Cullowhee, N.C. UTC is 20-20 and 2-5 in Southern Conference play.
The game remained scoreless until Catamount Madison Armstrong hit a home run to right center in the bottom of the third.
Western Carolina added one run each in the fourth and sixth inning.

Anyssa Robles and freshman
Amanda Beltran each tallied a hit.
Freshman
Katie Corum led the squad with 5 putouts, while four Mocs racked up three. Sophomore
Ashley Conner had a team-best 4 assists, with Blanco and sophomore
Cori Jennings following with two.
Jennings tossed a complete game, moving to 9-7 from the circle.
The Catamounts' pitcher Taylor Sigmon had an impressive showing with nine strikeouts and one ball, earning her 10th win of the season from the mound.
Western Carolina is now 27-13 and 6-2 in conference action.
The Mocs face the Catamounts in a doubleheader Sunday starting at 1:00 p.m. to wrap up the series.
