Mocs Host Presbyterian Saturday

Kickoff against the Blue Hose is set for 2:00 p.m. at Finley Stadium.

The Chattanooga Mocs enter week two of the 2016 college football season with a 1-0 record and a No. 6 national ranking.  UTC is coming off a 66-0 win over Shorter in the season opener.  Chattanooga allowed just 16 yards of offense against the Hawks, while putting up the most points in a game since 2001. 
 
The Mocs now welcome Presbyterian College (0-1, 0-0 Big South) to Finley Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 10 for a 2:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) kickoff.  PC lost its first game of the year, 49-3 at Central Michigan. 
 
Presbyterian was picked to finish sixth in the Big South Conference preseason poll.  They played tough on the road last week and were only down 14-3 at the half against the Chippewas. 
 
This is the third time since 2009 these two teams have faced off, but the first time in Chattanooga.  The Mocs won last year's rainy affair 21-0 in Clinton, S.C.

Tickets are available now at the UTC Ticket Office by calling (423) 266-MOCS (6627) or online on GoMocs.com.  In addition to the regular business hours of the UTC Ticket Office (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) at McKenzie Arena, the First Tennessee Pavilion ticket window at Finley Stadium opens on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10:00 a.m.  All other ticket windows open at 11:00 a.m. on gameday.
 
QUICK NOTES TO KNOW ABOUT THE MOCS
General
• UTC head coach Russ Huesman is in his eighth season at his alma mater.  He is 51-33 (.607) overall and 36-18 (.667) in Southern Conference action.
• The 2016 senior class has 28 wins.  The school-record is 33, set by both the 2015 and 1980 classes. 
• The Mocs are 52-51 all-time at Finley Stadium …  UTC is over .500 at Finley for the first time since the 2002 season … 24-10 in the Huesman era.
• The Mocs are 7-3 at home in non-conference play in the Russ Huesman era.
• UTC has won 12 SoCon home games in a row … last league loss at home was against No. 2 Georgia Southern (38-31 OT) on Oct. 27, 2012.
• The Mocs led the SoCon in home attendance in the regular season for the second year in a row, averaging 11,204 in 2015 ... second-highest average on record (12,699 - 2010) ... Chattanooga averaged 10,000 fans per game only five times in school history ... four of those in the Huesman era (2009, 2010, 2011, 2015). 
 
Offense
• The Mocs have two preseason All-Americans on offense.  Senior RB Derrick Craine is on the STATS Offensive Player of the Year Watch List.  Senior offensive lineman Corey Levin is a two-time winner of the Jacobs Blocking Award as the top offensive lineman in the SoCon.
• Craine is 42 yards shy of 2,000 rushing yards in his career ... his 20 rushing TDs are tied for fifth all-time at UTC.
• Junior WR James Stovall has caught a pass in 13 straight games, longest active streak on the team ... has four TDs in last three games, dating back to last season.
• Junior Alejandro Bennifield was 8-11 for 135 yards, 4 TDs and an INT in his debut as the Mocs' starter at QB.  He replaced three-time SoCon Offensive Player of the Year Jacob Huesman
• UTC's 66 points in the season opener against Shorter are the most in the Huesman era ... most since a 73-0 win over Kentucky State on Nov. 24, 2001 … 5th game in the Huesman era with 50+ points … first with 60+ points.
 
Defense
• The Mocs allowed just 16 yards of offense (14 rush, 2 pass) in the season opener against Shorter.
• The shutout against Shorter is the fourth in the Russ Huesman era (since 2009).
• Chattanooga has three preseason All-Americans on defense, including Keionta Davis (DL), Nakevion Leslie (LB) and Lucas Webb (DB). 
• Davis is on the STATS Defensive Player of the Year Watch List.
• Webb has three career pick-6s ... school-record and tied for the SoCon record.
• Webb has nine career INTs ... tied for ninth all-time at UTC with Coach Huesman (1978-81), among others.
 
Special Teams
• Senior Henrique Ribeiro is on the Fred Mitchell Award Watch List for the kicker of the year outside of the FBS (FCS, DII, DIII, NAIA) ... preseason third team All-American according to College Sports Madness ... preseason first team All-SoCon.
• Ribeiro's current streak of 99 consecutive PATs is the school record ... third longest streak in SoCon history ... needs 26 more to pass Tim Openlander (Marshall - 1994-96) for second.
• Ribeiro's 75.5 (37/49) career FG% is currently second all-time at UTC ... fourth in made FGs at UTC, two shy of Rodney Allen (1989-92) for third ... 117-119 on PATs (school-record) in his career.
• Ribeiro's 228 career points is third all-time at UTC ... 15 points shy of Matt Vick (1997-00) for second.
• Senior C.J. Board was a second team All-SoCon returner in 2015. 
 
NOTES TO KNOW ABOUT THE PRESBYTERIAN SERIES
• This is the eighth meeting in the series that began in 1930 ... UTC leads 5-2 and is 2-1 in Chattanooga.
• The first five games were played before 1963.
• UTC renewed the series in 2009 with a 29-13 win in Clinton.  That was the first road win for head coach Russ Huesman.
• This is the first game in Chattanooga in the series since Nov. 4, 1961 ... a 10-9 win for the Blue Hose.
 
SCOUTING PRESBYTERIAN
The Blue Hose are members of the Big South Conference and in its 10th season at the FCS level.  They return 55 lettermen, including 12 starters, from last year's squad that went 2-9.  They posted wins over Campbell and Kennesaw State.
 
Presbyterian opened the season with a 49-3 loss at Central Michigan on Sept. 1.  The game was close at the half, with CMU holding a 14-3 advantage. 

Junior running back Darrell Bridges, a Chattanooga area native and 2013 graduate of Ridgeland High School, was first team All-Big South in 2015.  He rushed for 1,065 yards, becoming the first player in PC's Division I history to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season. 
 
Senior TE Joseph Purter is a preseason first team All-Big South pick.  He was fourth on the team a year ago with eight catches for 103 yards.  Junior DL Obinna Ntiasagwe was also a preseason first team selection.  He led the team with 5.5 sacks last season. 
 
Head Coach Harold Nichols is in his eighth season at Presbyterian.  He was the Big South Coach of the Year in 2014 and has a 17-59 career mark.
 
LAST TIME VS. PRESBYTERIAN - 21-0 ON SEPT. 29, 2015
• The No. 8 Chattanooga Mocs scored a 21-0 win at Presbyterian on a rained-soaked Sept. 15, 2015, in Clinton, S.C.  The Mocs improved to 3-1 overall, while the Blue Hose dropped to 1-3.
• Mocs held a team scoreless for the first time since a 51-0 shutout last season at Western Carolina (11/1/14) … third shutout for UTC in the Huesman era (since 2009). 
• Chattanooga was 10/16 (62.5%) on third down… Mocs came into the game No. 7 in the FCS on third down at 52.2% (24/46).
Toyvian Brand's 44-yard pick-6 in the fourth quarter is the second defensive score of the season.
• UTC held Presbyterian to just eight yards of offense and one first down in the second half.
• This is the first time a Huesman-coached Mocs team has won a non-conference night game on the road … Presbyterian was 3-0 in home night games at Bailey Memorial Stadium coming into the game.
• The Mocs improved to 9-23 when scoring less than 24 points in the Huesman era … 20-0 when allowing less than 14 points.
• Chattanooga ran for 293 yards on 57 attempts.
• The Mocs dominated time of possession (38:30)
• Chattanooga held Presbyterian to 2/12 on third down.
Richardre Bagley - Career-high 74 rushing yards on 11 carries.
Xavier Borishade – 3 catches for 48 yards and a TD ... 38-yard TD pass from Jacob Huesman in the second quarter.
Keionta Davis - Monster game with a career-high 3.0 sacks ... most sacks in a game since Davis Tull had 3.5 against Furman in 2013 ... five tackles, three PBUs, a hurry and recovered a fumble.
