The Chattanooga Mocs football team looks to continue their winning ways opening the home portion of the 2026 campaign with a visit Saturday from Tennessee Tech. Game time is 6 p.m., as the Mocs kick off their 29th season at Finley Stadium.

While the Golden Eagles joined the Southern Conference this past summer, this contest is a non-conference matchup. The league is maintaining an eight-game schedule in 2026 with Tennessee Tech facing the other eight SoCon members. This game was already scheduled prior to their move to the SoCon and due to scheduling conflicts, not all members could take on a full 9-game slate.
 
It's "Future Fans Night" with FREE admittance to kids 12 and under. That further cements the Mocs as one of the most family friendly tickets around with season tickets starting as low as $60 as well as mini-plan offers for two or three games.
 
Chancellor vs. President
One interesting part of the matchup is the tie between the top leadership positions at the two schools. UTC Chancellor Dr. Lori Mann Bruce came to Chattanooga from Tennessee Tech in 2025. TTU President Dr. Phil Oldham made the same trek but in reverse in 2012. Both were provosts at their prior institutions before taking the reins at their current stops.
 
Quick Look Back
The Mocs opened the season with a 24-10 win at West Georgia. The Wolves led 7-3 at the break, but the Mocs scored on their first two second half possessions taking the lead on Battle Alberson touchdown passes to Ashton Schumann (72 yards) and Boobie Leavell (20). Kevin Lalin put the icing on the cake with a fourth quarter 6-yard dash.
 
3 Notes to Know from Thursday:

• While the Mocs offense kept the chains moving with at least one first down on 10 of their 11 possessions, the defense held UWG to five 3-and-outs. That led to a 36:43 time of possession for the good guys.
• Schumann ended up with 100 yards on four catches with the score. The last receiver with 100 yards in a debut? Current defensive ends coach Tyrus Ward. He collected four passes for 107 yards and a touchdown at Memphis on Sept. 11, 2004.
• Starting cornerbacks Keyshawn Jackson (3) and DJ Adams (2) combined for five pass breakups in the contest.
