DULUTH, Ga.---The Chattanooga Mocs opened with 294 and closed with 297 over their 36-hole day at the Autotrader Collegiate. The puts the squad tied for eighth with UNCG and Augusta at 591.
Etienne Brault and
Phillip Hickam led the way with 1-over par 145s. The duo is tied for 12th.
Lake Johnson is two behind them, tied for 22nd at 3 over playing as an individual.
Brault had the shot of the day. He was 1-over par standing on the 15th fairway. With 238 yards to the hole, he selected 2 iron. The shot could not have been truer as it ended up in the cup for an albatross 2 (double eagle).
That propelled him to an opening round 70.
Luke Long ended up even at 72 with Hickam and
Will Porter carding 76s.
A.J. Lintunen turned in the drop score with an 80, while Johnson had a season-best 71.
Hickam flipped the switch in the afternoon 18. He posted the best round of the day for the Scenic City crew with a 3-under 69. Brault (75), Porter (76), Long (77) and Lintunen (77) rounded out the 297. Johnson ended up with a 76.
Georgia Southern is the leader at 18 under. The Eagles are 23 clear of second-place Georgia State. Georgia Southern's Steven Fisk is the individual leader at 12 under.
UTC, Augusta and UNCG are just two strokes out of sixth which is manned by Kansas and Boston College at 589. Mississippi State is fifth with 588, one behind Lipscomb in fourth (587).

INDIVIDUALS IN LOUDON
Three individuals are in action at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon. The trio -
Andrew Weathers,
Oliver Simonsen &
Connor Nolan - are entered in the Bojangles Tennessee Intercollegiate, a two-day, 36-hole event.
Weathers leads the Mocs contingent tied for seventh at even-par 72. Nolan is tied for 10th, one behind him at 1 over. Simonsen's 76 is tied for 25th. The final round is tomorrow.
3 NOTES TO KNOW
- Brault's double eagle is the first of the Mark Guhne era. Stephan Jaeger (2008 Carpet Capital Collegiate) and Davis Bunn (2012 NCAA Bowling Green Regionals) have holes-in-one.
- Long's second round 77 is his first score over 73 since his first round of the season. That's a span of nine rounds.
- Hickam posted five birdies on his second card after zero in round one. The five tied his season high during the opening 18 at Shoal Creek.

Tuesday, Oct. 17 – 8:15 a.m. of No. 1 paired with Boston College, Kansas & Mississippi State. Lintunen is up first followed by Porter (8:25), Long (8:35), Hickam (8:45) and Brault (8:55). Johnson's individual group starts the day at 8:05 a.m.
