GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team fell in a five-set (28-26, 23-25, 20-25, 25-20, 18-16) heartbreaker against UNCG in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday evening.

The Mocs fall to 12-12 overall and 5-5 in the SoCon and are now 0-5 this season in five-set matches. UNCG improves to 12-10, 5-5 in conference play after the win.

Ally Ford finished with a match-high 21 kills on a .167 percentage while
Eden Murray finished with 13 kills at a .344 clip and
Dani Szczepanski totaled 10 kills on a .388 percentage.
Madison Bergren completed her tenth career assist-dig double-double by notching a team-high 33 assists and adding 15 digs.
Lauren Greenspoon chipped in with 20 assists.

Megan Kaufman led the Mocs defensively as the freshman finished with a match-high 25 digs.
Emily Plumlee totaled a career-high 9.0 blocks to lead the match while
Ally Ford and
Mikaela Gauthreaux added 5.0 and 4.0 blocks, respectively.

UTC earned the blocking advantage over UNCG by a 14.0 to 7.0 count and also hit for a higher efficiency, .193 to .172. The Spartans totaled more kills at a 70-61 edge and also committed fewer service errors as the Mocs posted a season-high 13 errors from the service line.

Chattanooga returns to Maclellan Gymnasium next weekend for a pair of 6 p.m. matches on Friday and Saturday. UTC and Furman will collide on Friday on Bone Marrow Donation Awareness night before the Mocs and Bulldogs from The Citadel clash on Saturday during Senior Night. UNCG 3, Chattanooga 2
1st Set | UNCG 28, UTC 26
UNCG completed an enormous rally to claim the first set off the Mocs. Chattanooga built an early 8-6 lead before extending that advantage to 17-9. They would later push the lead to ten points at 22-12. What looked like a sure first set win for UTC, UNCG had other plans. The Spartans rallied to score 11 of the next 12 points to tie things up at 23-23. Both teams exchanged points, fighting off multiple set points, before UNCG earned a 28-26 set win on a kill to take a 1-0 lead.

2nd Set | UTC 25, UNCG 23
After suffering a shocking set back in the first set, the Mocs fell behind in the early going 7-2 before calling timeout. Chattanooga battled back with a 10-5 run to tie the set up 12-12. The set would be tied eight different times from that point down the stretch. Locked at 23-all,
Emily Plumlee and
Mikaela Gauthreaux teamed up for a block to give the Mocs a set point. UTC forced UNCG into an attacking error to claim a 25-23 set win and tie the match 1-1 at the break.

3rd Set | UTC 25, UNCG 20
Similar to the second set, Chattanooga found themselves in a hole early on. With the set tied 6-6, the Spartans went on a 9-2 run to open up a 15-8 lead. The Mocs fought right back with an enormous 13-1 run to pad up a 21-16 advantage. UNCG would cut it to three at 22-19 and 23-20 before the Mocs ended the set on an
Ally Ford kill and an error from the opposition.

4th Set | UNCG 25, UTC 20
Chattanooga jumped out in front in the first half of the set, 11-6, looking to end the match in four sets. UNCG would once again claw back, this time scoring six-straight to take a 12-11 lead. After exchanging points and with the set tied 18-18, UNCG created separation with three unanswered before taking four of the final six points to earn a 25-20 set win and force a deciding fifth set.

5th Set | UNCG 18, UTC 16
Chattanooga entered the fifth set winless on the season in deciding-set matches and was looking to earn their first five-set win of the year. UNCG held a two-point lead at the switch, 8-6, before the Mocs rallied to take a 12-10 lead. UNCG and UTC would be tied at 13-13, 14-14, 15-15 and 16-16 before the Spartans won the set, 18-16, and the match, 3-2, on a kill and block at the net.
