Head Coach Mark Guhne on…
One Tough 18 per Tournament:
"That's three straight weeks we've played really well for 36 of the 54 holes. The other 18 have been a struggle. We're not going to be the team we believe we are playing two-thirds of the way. It doesn't work like that. The good news is we are in week three with a young team that will get it going the right direction."

On the play of Luke Long:
"Really proud of Luke. He's carrying us right now. There's plenty of help for him on this roster whether it's who is here this week or at home. The top five will identify itself as we move forward. That's one of the strengths of our team. We have several guys who can perform at a high level."

On Etienne Brault's Flurry to Finish:
"That was a great finish for E. That's what you want to see when a guy is scuffling a bit. He fought to the very end. You can't ask for anything more than that. Today was a great team round. Any time a 74 is your drop score, you know it's a pretty good day."

3 NOTES TO KNOW
  • 877 team total is a season best…lowest 54-hole score since 9-under 855 last March at Furman.
  • Long and Brault are the first Mocs to shoot par or better for a tourney this year. It's the second time in Brault's career (-4, 212, 2016 AutoTrader Coll.), while Long tied his low of 211 with 2017 Loyola Intercollegiate while at SIUE. It's his third par or better result in two collegiate seasons.
  • Entering the event, UTC had just one card in the 60s, Long's 69 to finish the Carpet Capital Collegiate. Turned in three this weekend with 68s from Hickam and Long along with a 69 from Brault. There were eight total par or better cards among five student-athletes this week after nine total over the first six rounds of the season.

NEXT UP
The Mocs have a little time off before returning to the tee. The next event is two weeks away heading to suburban Atlanta for the AutoTrader Collegiate. It's played Oct. 16-17 at Berkeley Hills C.C.
