The Chattanooga Mocs open Southern Conference play at Samford Saturday night. The Mocs have won four straight league openers with all four coming on the road. GoMocs.com brings you “5 Things to Know” about the contest.

The McKenzie Arena ticket office is closed December 24th – January 2nd with the exception of the dates and times listed below for Mocs basketball games and the Southern Scuffle. The ticket office resumes normal business hours starting January 3rd. Normal business hours include Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

December 28th the ticket office opens at Noon in advance of the women's game vs. Hampton.

Samford is the familiar stranger so to speak for the Chattanooga Mocs. The Bulldogs are the most frequent opponent in school history as the two square off for the 95th time Saturday night. While that's a lot of matchups, there's been just 25 in the last 40+ years.
After the move to DI in 1977-78, the two schools met a mere five times from the 1978-2008 seasons. Then the Bulldogs joined the SoCon and there have been 20 over the prior nine campaigns with the Mocs on the positive side of the scoreboard 15 times.

Junior Nat Dixon's rise has been on the radar in the Chattanooga Mocs official game notes (page 3) for a while now. His strong start has elevated over the past three games. Dixon was on fire prior to the holiday break averaging 18.7 points per game in three contests with 19 apiece at Tennessee Tech and at Jacksonville State and 18 vs. Georgia State. He's averaging 14.7 ppg over last seven.

- Fifth straight year beginning on the road winning at Furman (72-63) on Jan. 4, 2014, The Citadel (67-48) on Dec. 11, 2014, The Citadel (84-76) on Jan. 2, 2016 and Western Carolina (64-48) on Dec. 31, 2016.
- Makale Foreman has been on a hot streak. Over the last five games, he's shooting 50 percent from the field (17-34) and 3pt range (12-24) while making all six of his free throw attempts. His averages over the stretch are 10.4 points, 2. 8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
- Three games ago, UTC had a season-high 19 turnovers at Tennessee Tech. That's the same number made in the last two with nine at Jacksonville State and 10 vs. Georgia State.
