Game Recap | IUPUI 14, Chattanooga 3
The Jaguars got on top early and didn't look back as they scored all 14 of their runs in the first three innings. They opened the game by loading the bases on a double, walk and a single before clearing them on a grand slam to left field to take a quick 4-0 lead.
Chattanooga scored two of their own in the bottom half of the first with out registering a hit.
Amy Lewis,
Aly Walker and
Ashley Conner all walked and Lewis scored from first on
Amanda Beltran being hit by a pitch.
Brook Womack scored the second run on a sacrifice fly to left field to trim the deficit to 4-2.
IUPUI scored four more in the second by way of two homers and an RBI groundout. The Mocs would answer with only one run in the bottom half on a bases-loaded walk from Conner, scoring
Katy Richardson. That run would be Chattanooga's last of the game. IUPUI would explode for six runs in the top of the third to expand to a 14-3 lead and would win by that score in a mercy-rule shortened game in five innings.
J.J. Hamill and Conner registered a hit a piece to make up for both UTC hits.
Payten Price (2-3) took the loss in the circle, throwing 3.1 innings and allowed five hits, five runs (all earned) while striking out two.
