RESULTS | NOTES

MOBILE---The Chattanooga Mocs finished strong behind a great performance from senior Wes Gosselin to tie for third at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate at Magnolia Grove Crossings Course. Gosselin tied for first earning his second collegiate win, but first in a team event.

His 3-under 69 paced a level-par 288 effort which tied for low team round of the day under rainy conditions. Stuart Thomas added a 2-under 70, while Phillip Hickam and Lake Johnson contributed 73 and 76, respectively.

Gosselin's 6-under 210 is the top 54-hole score by a Moc so far this season. He had an eagle and season-best 14 birdies playing par or better on 47 of 54 holes. It's the first medalist honor in a team event for a UTC golfer since former All-American Chris Robb shot 9-under 207 winning the 2012 Bridgestone Golf Collegiate.

Junior Phillip Hickam had his first top 10 in the starting five tying for ninth at 2-under 214. Junior Stuart Thomas just missed tying for 11 a shot back at -1. Andrew Weathers shot 224, while Johnson turned in 230.

Senior Brooks Thomas tied Mississippi State's Taylor Bibbs for the USA Individual title on Magnolia Grove Falls Course. Thomas's 1-under 70 made up eight shots on Bibbs for matching 3-over totals of 216. Etienne Brault ( 9) tied for ninth with Will Porter ( 19) tying for 22nd.

Louisville claimed the team title with an 8-under 856. Host South Alabama was second at 859 as UTC and Mississippi were knotted in third at -2. Georgia State's Alexander Hermann tied Gosselin for medalist at -6.

Quotable
"Great to see Wes fight back and get the win after a tough finish yesterday. It was a great team effort playing in tough conditions with it raining on us all day long. Tying for the best round today is a good sign, and I'm proud of the strong final round to get the spring started. All-in-all, a real positive start and something we can build on." – Coach Mark Guhne.

Scoring
The Mocs had one card in the 60s in each round this week. That powered three par or better team rounds as the team counted six par or better scores, two per 18.
