Maddy McDanel and the Chattanooga Mocs begin the spring half of the schedule Sunday at the Edwin Watts Kiawah Island Spring Classic.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team has been waiting…and waiting…and waiting for the calendar to reach this point. The ladies take the tee Sunday in the first event of the spring half of the schedule.
It starts with the Edwin Watts Kiawah Island Spring Classic. The 43-team field plays at both Osprey Point and Oak Point Golf Clubs over their first 36 holes. The top half of the leaderboard attacks Osprey Point in Tuesday's final 18, while the bottom groups head back to Oak Point.
This is the sixth year the Mocs have travelled to Kiawah Island for this event. Last year's entry was runner-up after consecutive fourth-place endings in 2014 and 2015.

How ready are your ladies to get back to the tee?:
"The girls are itching to play. They love to compete, and although I feel we have made the most of the off season, they are ready to get back out there."
We've played in this event several times in your tenure, how do the courses we'll play fit the strengths of our team?:
"Both of the courses are fun to play as long as you stay clear of the alligators. They present different kinds of challenges both mentally, and from a game perspective. I feel like we are in a good place as a team, although Holly will have to sit this one out due to injury. We will play on one of the courses only one time and twice on the other. This definitely keeps all the players on edge. [Strength Coach] Collin Crane and I have a good program off the course making our team comfortable being uncomfortable. We hope that it transitions on to the courses this spring."

- Team's 296.27 stroke average is slightly ahead of last year's school-record 296.43.
- Just two strokes separate Holly Morgan (74.13), Monica San Juan (74.20) and Cristina Perez (74.27) atop the team leaderboard for the season.
- San Juan's tie for eighth at the Palmetto Intercollegiate to end the fall is the top individual finish of the year.
- Four Mocs have scoring averages less than 76 with Maria Pineiro (75.67) joining San Juan, Perez and Morgan. The program has never had more than two end a season below a 76 average.
- Top-ranked teams in the field of 43: (55) CHATTANOOGA, (68) Coastal Carolina, (74) College of Charleston, (78) Murray State, (83) ETSU & (96) Southern Miss.
