Mocs Return to Tee in North Carolina

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs head back to the Carolina this week for the River Landing Classic. The par 72, 6,082-yard River Landing Golf Course in Wallace, N.C., is the host site.

The Mocs look to continue this week, how they finished the last event. The squad closed the Edwin Watts Kiawah Island Spring Classic with a 1-over par 289. That ties for the season's best round with the second 18 of at the opening event of the fall, the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate.

This is the first entry in the River Landing Classic for the program. The 12-team field includes five teams ranked in the top 100 headlined by North Carolina at No. 34 in the Golfstat rankings.

Coach Colette Murray entered all six student-athletes with one playing as an individual. Scoring leader Holly Morgan returns after missing the last event with an upper body injury.

13 birdies on the counting cards for the 289…one shy of the season-best 14 in the second 18 of October's Palmetto Intercollegiate…recorded double-digit birdies in 10 of 18 rounds.
Freshman Maddy McDanel had her best finish of the season last week at Kiawah Island shooting 4-over 220. Bested the 6-over 222 from the Mason Rudolph Championships in September.
Freshman Maria Pineiro had a season-best five birdies shooting 70 (-2) over the final at Kiawah Island.
