RESULTS

PINEHURST, N.C.---The Chattanooga Mocs shot 302 in Tuesday's final round to finish fourth at the Southern Conference Men's Golf Championships. The Mocs tallied 900 for the rain-soaked event.

Etienne Brault led the way with an even-par 72. He started out with two birdies and four pars over the first six holes. That shifted to a 3-over start through 11 with a bogey-par-double-bogey-bogey stretch.

Brault birdied three of the next four holes to get back to even on the day and 4 over for the tourney. He missed a birdie putt on 17 by inches and another on 18 to finish two shots off the individual lead in fourth-place.

Brooks Thomas (76), Phillip Hickam (77) and Stuart Thomas (77) rounded out the team score. Wes Gosselin tied for 11th at 8 over (224). B. Thomas tied for 16th at 226.

ETSU won the team title with an 882 total. UNCG was second with 890 followed by Wofford in third at 898. The Bucs' Geuntae Kim won medalist honors in a one-hole playoff over UNCG's Jonathan Brightwell. Kim birdied the 18th for the win as Brightwell's birdie effort slid just by the hole on the right.

Quotable
Mark Guhne on…
4th-place:
"We just dug ourselves too big a hole in the first round. We probably weren't patient enough today trying to get back into it. ETSU played really solid, so I think we started to press a little then it got away from us."

Seniors Wes Gosselin and Brooks Thomas:
"Wanted this very bad for them, as did the entire team. I could not be more proud of two seniors. They represented our program, our university and the city of Chattanooga the right way."

Etienne Brault:
"'E' got off to a good start, had a tough stretch and then finished strong getting the top 5. His future is very bright."
