OXFORD, MISS. --- The Chattanooga Mocs team blanked Louisiana Tech and fell to tournament-host Ole Miss on the final day of the Ole Miss Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
With the split, the Mocs move to 2-2 for the season and finished third in the four-team tournament. Ole Miss handed UTC a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-22) loss before the Mocs turned around and produced a sweep of its' own against LA Tech (25-15, 25-23, 25-23).

Ole Miss 3, Chattanooga 0
1st Set – OM 25, UTC 18
After concluding last night's match against FAMU near 1:00 a.m., the Mocs had a quick turnaround to face the tournament-host Rebels in their newly renovated Gillom Sports Center. Ole Miss raced out to a 9-5 lead and forced Chattanooga into a timeout. The Mocs responded with an 8-4 run to cut the match to a single point at 14-13. OM rattled off six of the next seven points to open up a 20-14 lead, leading UTC into calling their final timeout of the set. A pair of

Lauren Greenspoon wasn't enough to get the Mocs all the way back as the Rebels claimed a 25-18 win in the first set.

2nd Set – OM 25, UTC 19
The Mocs and Rebels started off the second set going back and forth with three different Mocs (Ford, Elpers and
Emily Plumlee) registering kills in the early going. With the score tied 9-9, Ole Miss put together a 9-3 run and opened up an 18-12 lead forcing Chattanooga to call a timeout. UTC couldn't spark a rally in the closing points and Ole Miss captured a 25-19 set win and extended their lead in the match to 2-0.

3rd Set – OM 25, UTC 22
In a must-win set for the Mocs, Ole Miss made it tough from the get-go by taking seven of the first nine points and forcing UTC into calling a timeout. Chattanooga trailed by as much as six, 11-5, before battling back and scratching their way to a two-point deficit at 20-18. Both teams traded the next eight points as that allowed OM to push it to match point at 24-22. A service error ended the third set and the match, 25-22, 3-0, respectively.

1st Set – UTC 25, LA Tech 15
In the final match of the Invitational for both squads, the Mocs came out swinging in the opening set as the team registered a .378 hitting percentage and limited the Lady Techsters to a .147 percentage. However, both teams traded points back and forth in the front half of the set as things were tied up 12-12 after a Tech service error. Chattanooga answered with an 8-3 run to push their lead to 20-15 and forcing LA Tech into a timeout, and then finished off the set on a 5-0 run to win 25-15.
2nd Set – UTC 25, LA Tech 23
The Mocs continued their attacked in the second set by collecting 14 kills on a .195 hitting percentage. Ford totaled six kills in the set alone and sparked an offense that built a 17-11 lead. LA Tech fought back and closed in on UTC late in the set, brining it within one-point at 23-22. A Greenspoon kill and an attacking error from Tech gave the Mocs a 25-23 win and extended their lead in the match to 2-0.

3rd Set – UTC 25, LA Tech 23
With a sweep on the horizon for UTC, LA Tech would make things interesting as the set featured 11 ties and six different lead changes. Both teams struggled offensively as each hit below .100 in the third. The Mocs found themselves trailing late, 22-19, but rattled off four straight points to take a 23-22 lead. Tech would tie it up on a kill just to see Chattanooga clinch the set, and match, by way of a block from Szczepanski and an unforced error.
