Luke Long fired a 1-under par 71 over the final 18 holes of the Shoal Creek Invitational. That paced the Chattanooga Mocs to a 297 team score and 10th-place finish in the event at Shoal Creek Club.
Long was joined by
Lake Johnson,
Etienne Brault and
Will Porter on the counting cards. Johnson shot 74 with Brault at 75 and Porter with 77.
Phillip Hickam posted the drop tally with a 78.
Long turned in 217 (+1) for his 54 holes. That placed him tied for 16th. Johnson joined him in the top 30 at 5-over 221. Brault and Porter shot 225, while Hickam and individual
Connor Nolan were another shot back at 226.
The Mocs ended up nine ahead of 11th-place Troy (892) and 19 clear of South Alabama (902) in 12th. Memphis was five in front of UTC in 9th at 878.
Wake Forest claimed the team win pulling away from runner-up Liberty by 13. The Demon Deacons shot 849 powered by a final-round low of 282. Ole Miss' Braden Thornberry was the individual winner at 9-under 207.

- Long's 1-over 217 is the Mocs low total through two events matching his total at the Carpet Capital Collegiate. He's averaging 72.33 strokes per 18 in the early going.
- 37 birdies on the counting cards is a new season high.
- Brault and Porter tied for the team lead in birdies with 11. That ties the latter's career best.

The Mocs head back to the tee this coming Monday at the Wolfpack Fall Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event is October 2-3 at Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh.
