GREENVILLE, S.C. --- The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-22) sweep against Furman on Saturday evening to cap off their two-day South Carolina road trip.

After the loss, the Mocs fall to 9-9 overall and 2-2 in the SoCon. Furman improved to 9-7 overall and 3-0 in league play.

The Paladins hit at a .400 percentage in the first set in route to a match total of .302. The Mocs struggled to find offensive efficiency as they totaled an attacking percentage of .150. Furman also out-blocked Chattanooga 8.0 to 5.0.

Miranda Elpers led the attacking with a team-high 13 kills on a .214 percentage while
Lauren Greenspoon dished out 28 assists to direct the offense.

Chattanooga returns to Maclellan Gymnasium next weekend for a pair of matches against Samford and Mercer. Friday's match against Samford will begin at 6 p.m. and will be broadcasted LIVE on the SoCon Digital Network while Saturday's Homecoming match against Mercer will be a 1 p.m. first serve with no broadcast. 1st Set | FUR 25, UTC 15
Furman jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead before the Mocs battled back to cut the deficit to two at 9-7. From that point, the Paladins went on an enormous 11-3 run to build their lead to 20-10. Furman would close out the set down the stretch by trading ten points, claiming a 25-15 set win.

2nd Set | FUR 25, UTC 19
The second set turned out to be a close set for the majority with a total of nine ties and four lead changes. With the set tied 11-11, the Paladins used a 4-0 run to extend out to a 15-11 lead and forcing the Mocs into a timeout. UTC would claw back to a 21-19 deficit before another 4-0 run from Furman clinched a 25-19 set win and a 2-0 lead in the match.

3rd Set | FUR 25, UTC 22
The Paladins continued their impressive play as they built a 10-5 lead in the first 15 points of the set. Chattanooga called timeout at that point, but couldn't rally as they fell behind 18-10. From there, the Mocs fought back to cut the deficit to 22-20 after a 12-4 run, but failed to put enough points on the board as Furman claimed a 25-22 set win and a 3-0 sweep in the match.
